Keep your kids busy and happy during Winter Break! The Vail Recreation District's Winter Break Camp provides children 5 - 12 and grades K - 5 with a variety of fun activities and winter outings. The camp is based out of the Red Sandstone Elementary School gymnasium in Vail. The cost is $40 if registered by December 14th or $45 if registered after December 14th. Children love pets! Pet and animal lessons of responsibility and respect, imaginative thinking, and fun pet play will be had this week. Stories will be read, crafts created, fun pet snacks eaten, and a visit from some friendly pets. 206-957-1533
Camp Willow M-F #9 9:15-3:15 - Marinwood CSD
Camp Willow is all new this summer and includes an enrichment aspect every day! Campers will spend 90 minutes each day learning basic skills for kindergarten readiness including the alphabet, numbers and colors. Willow campers will also experience all the exciting camp games and activities Marinwood offers, everything from Man from Mars to creating Superhero capes! Incoming 7th and 8th Graders will learn the basic usage and safety of some hand tools, power tools and machinery (routers, drill press, scroll saw, spindle sander, disc sander, palm sander, cordless drill, lathe). All activities will be demonstrated and supervised by Mr. Caris, the current Woodworking teacher at NBJH. Students will choose a project from a list based on their experience. The list will be sent home in the FIRST week of the course. Examples include a cutting board, wood bowl, routed sign, garden tray, gumball machine, and bag toss game. Through the correct mixture of attitude and technique, anyone can learn how to keep herself safe. Increasing your ability to protect yourself by at least 10% puts you in an elite category.
