Are you looking for an activity for your kids during Christmas Break? We will be offering a HOLIDAY KIDS CAMP. The cost is $60/week per child aged 3-10 and we will have a pizza party for the kids on the last day. We will provide a light snack and drink during the sessions. Thursday After School Spring 2016 - Terra Firma Farm
Terra Firma Farm is entering our 12th year of After School Programs here on the Farm! Throughout the year, the farm-based after school program serves local area students every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon. The Terra Firma Farm After School program follows the Stonington Public School Calendar for holidays, half days, vacations and cancellations. Students are dropped at the farm after school or on the school bus and must be picked up by 5:30 PM. The After School program offers children in grades K- 4 the opportunity for fun, learning and exploration. Students arrive on the farm and are welcomed with a fresh after school snack. The children then do farm animal chores such as feeding the pigs, goats, cows, donkeys and the hens. A highlight of each day is gathering eggs from the laying hens. After chores are completed, children may participate in a range of other agriculture-based activities, including gardening, cooking, canning and preserving food, cheese- or butter-making, fiber arts, nature crafts, and much more. Other crafts and activities are scheduled to coincide with holidays and seasonal changes on the farm. 860-535-8171

Ever wonder what its like to work at a tech company? In this workshop, well look at the many aspects of what goes into building a product like Facebook or Twitter. Students will wear many hats, playing the role of product designers, developers, and customers. To top it all off, students will build their own application and gain a basic understanding of the Ruby programming language. This is a great introduction to programming for teens in grades 9-12. Week #1 Lavender Mountain This is the start of a summer filled with Friends, Fun, and Exciting field trips. This first week is a hike up Lavender Mountain. We will swing on the rope swing, climb the tower, and pretend to be logs and roll down the grassy hill. There is nothing like a picnic on the top of Lavender Mountain. New games will be played inside and out at the Anthony Center. The Federal Food Pogram will start today and run till July 22nd. Afternoon snack will be provided. We will be swimming once a week, so you need to have a swim bag ready to go with your swimsuit, sun screen, towel and (flip flops for the time we are at the pool). Capoiera THURS (grades 3-8) - University City Arts League
Capoeira is a Brazilian martial art that combines elements of dance and music. It was created in Brazil mainly by descendants of African slaves with Brazilian native influences. It is known by quick and complex moves, using mainly power, speed, and leverage for leg sweeps. Students work on physical coordination, group awareness, and communication. Students are recommended ( but not required) to take both the Monday and Thursday classes to get the most out of this program. Important Notice from UCAL: At the end of your registration process through the Active system, you will be offered a 30-day free trial of something called the Active Advantage program. You do NOT need to register with Active Advantage to receive member discounts for UCAL programs ,and we do not recommend signing up for it.
