SciTech Adventurers explore science, technology, engineering and math as they engage in hands-on activities and practices that scientists and engineers use to investigate the world around them. Each week, children are introduced to a STEM topic and do a hands-on activity that builds on their natural curiosity and problem-solving skills as they apply scientific concepts. Some of the winter themes include the digestive system, photosynthesis, wind power, earthquakes, hydroponics, hovercrafts, sound and robotics. 212-804-7055
Ferry to History - Thursday Camp 4-28-16 - PS87 Afterschool Program
Staten Island Ferry trip & Historic Richmond Town Take a trip on one of the citys oldest attractions as we hop onto the Staten Island Ferry, then continue on to Historic Richmond Town to learn about seventeenth-century life and traditions. Kids will travel to South Ferry by MTA Subway, then board a private bus to historic Richmond Town, and come back by bus, ferry, and subway to PS 87.
Candle Making - The Evergreen School
Engage your sense in the ancient and magical tradition of melting wax. In this class students will be making both dip candles and mold candles, stirring the hot pot of melting material… just like magicians. Students will add a variety of pigments to create different colors and use essential oils creating different experiences of scent. Students will be taking home their candle creations. 206-957-1533
CLAY ART CAMP: SEA WORLD - Ben Robertson Community Center
Join us for a fun week of imagination and creative travels to sea world! Campers will create a star fish bowl and unique wall art using multiple pottery techniques including coil, pinch and slab methods. Explore a new media and create one-of-a-kind masterpieces. Campers will get to experience using a pottery wheel on the last day of camp. Materials: A separate fee of $25 is payable to the instructor on the first day of camp for art materials, clay, glazes and kiln supplies. Campers should bring a snack and water each day. Parrie Haynes Ranch Your child will get to enjoy fishing, a nature walk, archery, arts and crafts, horse care, field games, and lunch out at Parrie Haynes Ranch. This trip is for students 8 years old and above. We will be departing BCYC no later than 9:00 am. Please have our child dropped off by 8:30 am in a red shirt and tennis shoes or hiking boots. Please no sandals or flip flops. Make sure they are wearing socks as well. Lunch will be included in this trip. It would be a good idea to send them with a small, light weight back pack/ bag with a water bottle and sunscreen to re-apply throughout the day.
