The Austin Yacht Clubs Junior Sailing Camp, located on beautiful Lake Travis, is a unique summer sailing experience for kids ages 8-16. Throughout your campers week at AYC, they will learn and practice fundamental skills aboard our fleet of Optimists, Picos, Lasers, Sunfish, and Flying Juniors. With a camper to counselor ratio of 4 to 1, you can rest assured that your child will enjoy the exciting sport of sailing in a safe environment. Our camp runs Monday-Friday from 9:00-5:00 with an optional early drop-off and late pick-up hour available free of charge. Through a combination of classroom discussion, land activities, on the water drills, and games our campers gain the skills necessary to become life-long sailors! Special activities include racing, destination sailing, keel boat rides, and wind surfing. 2016 Fees:* Non-Member: $480.00 Member: $395.00** *A $50.00 discount will be given for multi-session and multi-child registrations. Kid’s Camp at Posh is a wonderful and creative activity for the kids while they are off school for break! 10am-1pm…Ages 4 and up! $24.00 for 3 hours includes a painting class with step by step instruction through the painting of the day, games, face painting, and more! Pizza lunch available for $6.00+tax additional or bring them lunch from home! Each child will leave with a piece of artwork that is uniquely theirs! No experience, set-up, or clean up necessary! Each class is independent from the others so come to one or come to them all!

Beginning Writing Camp for Grades K-8 - Slauson Middle School
Beginning Writing Camp 6th year for this popular & well respected camp ! Turn your rough draft into a brilliant masterpiece in this enriching writing camp. Using the Writers workshop research-based curriculum, campers learn and then refine their writing skills. Writers create their own publishing company, then plan, write, illustrate and produce an amazing picture book. Each writer has an individual writing conference, that helps them gain insight and confidence into their self-expression. Discussions may include qualities of good writing, overcoming writers block, writing motivation, craft of writing, anti-bias and multicultural themes and much more. Children are exposed to a wide range of literature, are taught to use author studies, and gain other strategies to help their work shine. An art exploration component may include graphic design; value study; use of color, drawing and illustration; and experimenting with collage, watercolor, colored pencil and more. Writers and illustrators display their work in an exciting award ceremony and potluck. Campers plan this Friday activity to show off their work to parents and friends.
