Fly fishing is a sport that teaches patience, improves motor skills, and fosters an appreciation for nature. No one can walk away from losing a five minute battle with a stubborn trout without a deep respect for the fish! Students will learn the basics of fly fishing – setting up their rod and reel, knot typing, basic overhead casting, selecting the right fly, etc. Discussion will also include the history of fly fishing, how its different from other kinds of fishing, and entomology. Come join us for a HUGE weekend in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Pastor Joel Lawrence from the Twin Cities will be coming down. We are planning a weekend where we can come alongside each other as student and speak and grow in our faith together. This is a time of unity for our area, we want to be closer than ever before to friends in our area displaying the love of Christ. So we we will be partnering in this retreat with Badger CRU from Madison in our larger group meetings! OPAL's multi-racial youth program, Youth Environmental Justice Alliance, is organizing a community event to raise awareness about a campaign to sustain and expand the YouthPass program in Portland. Our goal for the campaign is to show the city, TriMet, our schools, and our community that affordable public transportation is important for youth to lead healthy lives, be able to thrive, and be successful. The youth-led event will officially launch our campaign and engage with community members and decision makers, especially in East Portland neighborhoods. There will be educational booths about transit justice, powerful youth testimonies, and cool performances! YouthPass to the Future Campaign: We want all high school students in Portland to be able to go to school and access opportunities that prepare them for success. Transit is an educational right! NOTE: MUST HAVE ATTENDED OUR STANDARD CSI CAMP. Campers MUST bring to camp an inexpensive digital camera. Campers will become advanced forensic scientists for the week! U.P. Python Golf Team Spring 2015 AGES 6-9 Co-Ed - The Courses at Watters Creek
The U.P. Python Golf Team is the perfect vehicle to introduce kids to the game of golf. Fun, friends and positive coaching are the key elements along with spending the majority of all practice time on the golf course. NTPGA Team Golf Tournaments will provide fun opportunities to compete in tournaments that will be "scaled down" to fit the beginning golfers abilities. The team will practice on Wednesdays from 4:15-5:30pm at Watters Creek and Saturday morning from 9:30-10:45 at Keeton Park. ***Please note the two different practice locations.
