Kid's Camp at VT People's Convention - Montpelier, VT
This Spring the Vermont People’s Convention will bring hundreds of people together as a critical step in building a unified movement for healthy communities and a just society. On April 30 & May 1st at Montpelier High School, individuals and organizations working for disability rights, racial justice, immigrant rights, climate justice and labor unions will come together for a weekend to share, learn and take action together. The organizers of the convention are working hard to make this an intergenerational event with a parallel Youth Activism Summit for teens, and a Kid’s Camp for children 12 and under. To make lasting and far reaching change we need the participation of Grandparents, Parents and their Children! The Kid’s Camp at the People’s Convention will not only provide quality childcare, but will be a fun space for kids to learn about and participate in creating a more just and vibrant world. Will your child(ren) be entering 3rd-6th grade for the 2016-2017 school year? Begin planning now to send them to the PNW Foursquare Camp at Cedar Springs Camp in Lake Stevens, Washington happening July 25-29, 2016. Did you know a camper is exposed to more of what the gospel is about in one week at camp than regular church attendance for a whole year. At summer camp 2015, there were 45 first time salvations, 108 re-dedications,87 Holy Spirit baptisms, 29 physical healings, 23 calls to full-time ministry and 72 commitments to discipleship! The impact of camp for campers is eternal! They meet with the God who created them and loves them. There will be 3 fundraisers to help cover the cost of camp. It is possible that through your child's fundraising efforts, they can raise enough to pay for camp in full (approx. $230).
Kids After Schoo Core Cooking Camp, Ages 5-8 (Bellevue) - Bellevue, WA
This is a wonderful program that will lay the foundation for healthy eating by educating and empowering students (ages 5-8) about basic kitchen safety, creating a healthy balanced plate, how to subsititue ingredients to make meals healthier and so much more! Classes are sold in a session of four, are held on Wednesdays frm January 4th-25th and are two hours long. The first 30 minutes of each class is dedicated to nutrition education including games and activities. The remaining time is dedicated to cooking, eating, and cleanup. Our Core Cooking Program covers topics such as: Kitchen Safety, Cross-Contamination, Healthy Snacks, Fueling Your Body, Healthy Breakfasts, MyPlate Nutrition, Lunch N Munch, Healthy Cooking Substitutions of Kids’ Favorite Foods Activity sheets, recipes, helpful tips, and individual workstations for hands-on activity are included in the course. Designed and directed by Hall of Fame Coach Thaier Mukhtar, the camp welcomes over 600 boys and girls from schools all over the tri-county area every July. Coach Mukhtar has designed his camp to ensure that every player receives maximum attention and exposure. Players will spend the week learning the game the right way, working hard, and having fun. The best amongst you is the one who learns Quran and teaches it. Prophet Mohammad, peace be upon him. MYGB will continue to offer its Quran program with the hope that this program will help our youth bond with the Quran through this experience Inshallah. By the end of each session of MYGB Quran program participants will have developed: *- greater appreciation of the words of Allah; *- better ability to read and recite the Quran; *- better understanding of some of the basic concepts addressed by the verses repeated in the short chapters. The program will also have a memorization component based on the youths abilities and readiness for memorization. All teachers and volunteers have tremendous experience working with youth in this particular field. Groups will be divided by age and then by competency level.
