COME LEARN CHESS - Whether your child has ever touched a chess piece or can defeat all challengers, Harding Academy Chess Club welcomes you to a semester of chess instruction and supervised chess play by Mid-South Chess. Instructors are college students trained by Grandmasters Alexander Stripunsky and Memphian/Rhodes College Graduate, International Master Jake Kleiman. Your chess instructor is hand selected for skill, competence, and experience in coaching chess. Club members are divided according to age and chess level. (T) 2016 Youth Leaders Summit (T) - Shepherdsville, KY
Tentatively scheduled for 29-31 January 2016, the Youth Leaders Summit, or YLS, is a consolidated Troop JLT that is conducted annually - the 2016 event will take place at Camp Crooked Creek. YLS should be attended by youth in the rank of 2nd Class or above and be newly elected leaders, or expected to become leaders within their troop. The training emphasizes YOUTH leadership of a troop, the Patrol Method, youth leadership positions and duties, basic problem solving and other principles of youth leading youth. Class size is limited to 30 Scouts, so be sure to register early!

Winter Youth Camp - Springfield, GA
Join us for the Effingham Winter Camp! Follow the link above to register or see your youth leader. Cost is $15 each and can be given to your youth leader. That will cover meals, snacks, and activities. Please bring a sleeping bag, pillow, warm clothes, and one roll of duck tape. We will be creating a cardboard city. Learn the basics of chess and improve your skills and concentration. Discover the origins of this fun game while enhancing your pattern recognition and self-discipline as you practice. Create your own board and pieces as a take-home keepsake. Up to the challenge? *Please note: Students who are registered for a morning and afternoon camp within the same week are invited to stay for FREE supervised lunch and recess between 11:30 am-12:30 pm. Explore the world of robotics using the new LEGO® Mindstorms EV3® line. Learn how to build and program robots by designing simpler versions of real world robots. Youll create a bot patterned after Starwood Hotels robot butler, which can be programmed to deliver objects to guests. Youll make an animatronic creature which senses people and says hello to them. Youll also make a line-following bot and one which moves along like an inchworm. Plus, well spend a morning working in teams to build and program robots to complete missions similar to those in First LEGO® League (FLL) competitions! Create your own scrolling adventure game using Stencyl®, one of the newest and best ways to create games for a computer or mobile device. You will select or design characters, give them properties and behaviors for movement and interactivity, use built-in physics, customize the backgrounds and levels, add sound and scoring, and so much more. Woodland Day Camp - Camp Waubanong
Woodland Camp is our foundational primer for camping, safety and discovery. Are you ready for an epic adventure? Built your own fire? Made a home to keep you dry? Or ever carved wood? Well cook on fires, harvest wild edibles, make rope, tie knots and learn many other essential skills. Well also play our favorite outdoor games for a healthy dose of unmatched fun. Day campers are also welcome to stay for our Thursday night closing campfire, which runs until 8:45pm. Campers are assigned to a cabin, so become acquainted with camp life, and feel just as connected to camp as our overnight campers. Day campers should plan to bring a bathing suit and towel each day.
