No. Will we write similes about the smell of a campfire, or lengthy descriptions of that one camp counselor who wears knee socks and a fanny pack? Perhaps. Join Kirsten Casey for five days of writing delight: creating poetry, characters, flash fiction pieces, and more. We will write everyday from 1-4 using a variety of prompts, strengthening our attention to detail, sharing our work, and eating candy. Kirsten Casey is a local California Poet in the Schools, who has been teaching creative writing to students in the area for over ten years. She earned her Masters in Creative Writing from San Francisco State, and you can find her work in the anthology Yuba Flows, and her own book of poetry, Ex Vivo: Out of the Living Body. Each Sunshiner will experience a sampling of golf, tennis, swimming, soccer, basketball, arts and crafts and many more exciting games! All necessary equipment is provided. Your Sunshiner will have bundles of fun, make lots of new friends and learn the fundamentals of the sports offered at camp. Enter the time machine once again and leave earthly worries behind because there is no time like the future to discover what awaits us in other galaxies. Its a strange world of changing realities and campers learn all about how to survive by using their senses. Campers transform into aliens with unique features and devices that help them thrive in outer realms of space. Campers play active & quiet games, create, sing songs, act, dance, cook and discover the joys of learning Spanish while playing sports too. Theme vocabulary includes colors, counting, verbs, nouns, adjectives to describe the power of our senses. Celebration Day Wednesday (participation optional) Campers express their alien spirit with their absurd alien inspired hairdo. During camp choice time campers find their alien ‘relatives according to hairstyle and create their unique alien group ‘Survival Guide. Notes: There may be options for arranging late pick up the same day. You will be notified of these options the week prior to camp start. Residential/Commuter Camp – Designed for HS aged athletes with a focus on the individuals developmental needs while also experiencing tactical and technical training based around the varied systems of play used at the HS and College level. We also offer a specialized program built into the camp for HS Varsity and JV teams that choose to do specific team training as well as compete in the evening game portion as a team against other HS teams and the groups formed from individual campers.
