Our middle school program focuses on the essentials of rowing in the stable training barge and then both sculling (rowing with two oars each) and sweep rowing (rowing with one oar each). The athletes row in the training barge, coxed quads, eight-person boats, and they learn valuable skills such as teamwork, fitness conditioning, and safety on the water. Let us introduce your child to the wonders of the bay area! Students learn about plants, animals, and ecosystems that are found in their own back yards! Each day focuses on a specific topic, such as marine mammals, marine birds, invertebrates, fish, and the marine environment. Students will explore the different environments on campus, search for dolphins and manatees in the waters adjacent to Eckerd College, identify birds and other creatures they see, get acquainted with critters in our touch tank and learn specifics in the classroom through discussions, presentations, and crafts. 727-864-8288
