We are going around the world with this multi faceted day camp for kids! We will explore the art, language and culture of several different countries, including Brazil, Morocco and Japan. A variety of activities will fill our time together - art, sports, music and more! Campers will create and fill in their "passports" as we visit a new country each day. Kids from 8-13 are invited to join us for this 4 day camp, running Monday, August 15 - Thursday, August 18 from 9 am to 12:30 pm each day. Cost of camp is $120. Robots aren’t just inventions in a galaxy far, far away— they exist here on Earth, at your local library! Join us this Winter Break for a Star Wars-themed robotics camp. Each day we’ll watch a clip from the movies, and build a LEGO robot inspired by the film. The library will be hosting two four-day camps—attending all four days is not mandatory, but each class will build upon the previous classes. No prior experience in LEGO robotics necessary, but seating is limited so RSVP is required. Debate Camp June (Grades 6 - 9) Have you ever been told that you love to argue? Or that you should be an attorney when you grow up? Have you watched the 2016 Primary Election debates and wondered, "Is that the best that a professional public speaker can do?" Are you interested in winning arguments or influencing your friends, family and classmates? If you answered "YES" to any of these questions, then Debate Camp is for YOU! If gaining the skills needed to succeed in a career such as law or STEM, or if gaining an advantage in advanced level history courses or any course requiring effective and persuasive communication interests you, then wed love to have you at Debate Camp! This camp will help you gain and sharpen specific tools and techniques related to persuasive communication including: court room trials, persuasive presentations, political campaigns and competitive team debates. Whether it is mucking out the stalls, collecting eggs, working in the garden or learning how to halter a sheep, there is never a dull moment on the farm! Although activities can vary depending on the day and age of the participants, we always try to instill the message that we are responsible for our own health, the health of our animals and for the care of this special place. Each day your child can expect to participate in chores in both the barnyard and garden. Of course, no Farm Hands experience would be complete without making new friends, games and nibbling fresh veggies fresh from the garden. We offer two types of programs. First, we have age specific programs. These sessions are a good fit for children that have attended camp year in and year out and like to have different age appropriate themes that build each year. Is there a best strategy for playing Rock-Paper-Scissors or Deal or No Deal? Can humans be truly random? We will investigate questions like these from economic, political, biological, diplomatic and psychological angles. In addition, we will solve a number of classic problems including the Prisoners Dilemma, the Monte Hall problem and the birthday problem. Starting from the very beginning, we will explore several different types of game creation: basic, maze, platform and more. Learn the basics such as creating sprites, objects, events and actions, health, gravity, designing your levels and more. Then go deeper into the platform game programming.... in this camp we will introduce even more unique gaming aspects to make your game even better. This camp will provide hours of creative time for you to build exciting, professional looking games you can play with your friends.
