This course reviews and assesses mastery of the high school core skills as applied to one fundamental topic from each of the Level 2 trimesters. From the physics trimester the topic is projectile motion, from the chemistry trimester the topic is stoichiometry, and from the biology trimester the topic is natural selection. 420 Intermediate Session 1 - 15 Tucks Point Rd., Manchester
The 420 Intermediate class is designed for sailors who have mastered the basics and want to enhance their sailing skills in a double-handed boat. Successful completion of two sessions of the 420 Beginner class, Opti Advanced, Opti Race Team, or a sailor who can demonstrate similar skills is required. There will be both chalkboard (pre and post sailing) and on-the-water instruction with a focus on fun while learning. Students will learn boat handling, sail trim and introductory spinnaker skills. This class has a hands on learn-to-sail focus. When complete, sailors will be able set, fly, and douse a spinnaker, demonstrate skipper/crew communication and teamwork, sail a 420 upwind, downwind, and do so with independence and confidence. This class is best for 12 – 18 year olds who are seeking to become proficient at two-person performance dinghy sailing.
