Campers let your curiosity run wild with hands-on science activities, crafts and guided exploration of our beautiful outdoor venue at Vasona County Lake Park in Los Gatos! Join us to dig into the fundamentals of botany by planting seeds and investigating the basics of plant life. What about the world below ground? Take a closer look at worms and learn about the importance of bees as pollinators and learn how these incredible creatures communicate. Also actively experiment with solids and liquids to learn more about states of matter. Star Wars® FAB LAB Projects & More! - Ages 6 - 9 Build to your hearts content in this all-day workshop. In the morning, design beautifully detailed Star Wars® vehicles and power them with a LEGO® motor, battery pack and gears. Students experience the excitement of a motor - how this device can transform a stationary object into a moving one. Projects include the Millennium Falcon, Reys Landspeeder, R2D2, X-Wing fighter, and Snow-Speeder. Students construct the motorized projects, then customize the design, and play with and share ideas with other campers. Builders are sure to have the force with them in this camp! In the afternoon, students learn the principles of engineering including the use of beams, columns and trusses as they build with the KNEX® system. Well design a skyscraper and bridge and even build a motor-powered car to drive over the bridge. Other projects include amusement park rides such as a spinning swing and a ferris wheel.
