LATEST CAMPS NEWS: Musical Production: The Lion King - The Evergreen School
Two shows on Friday July 29th at 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. in The Evergreen Theater. Calling actors, singers, and dancers! The Evergreen School Summer Performing Arts Program is putting on a big show and we need your talent! In this two week production, students become members of a small cast, and each day is filled with fun activities that build skills for musical theater. This years show is The Lion King. Every student enrolled receives a copy of the music and the script in advance of rehearsals. Auditions take place on the first day of class. In this production, everyone will be strongly featured with solos for all. On the last day, July 29, in partnership with our Backstage Crew and Costume Crew classes, actors will present two big performances (3:00 pm and 7:00 pm) complete with sets, costumes and lights. Attendance is required for all days of these two weeks and at both shows. This successful summer program has a team of five experienced teaching artists all lead by Evergreens Vanessa Miller. 20. STEAM - Pigment School of the Arts
Using STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) education as the foundation, students will create works of art that apply design skills in drawing, painting, and 3-D sculpture. Concepts such as symmetry, balance and form which are naturally aligned in both art and math will be fully explored in this camp. Projects include a fun engineering design challenge involving the construction of a small scale chair, a geometric tessellation drawing, and a wooden assemblage incorporating one point perspective. 2143522787.0

Chess Academy during camp week #3: June 27 - July 1 - Germantown Friends School
National-championship coach Ross Colby will be offering two weeks of intensive chess instruction at Germantown Friends School. Ross has either played on or coached teams that have won national championships in Arizona, North Carolina, & Pennsylvania! Players at this years camp will participate in intensive strategy sessions, tournament games, daily award ceremonies, simultaneous exhibitions, and a speed tournament. At the end of the five-day camp, participants will enjoy a pizza fest and final awards ceremony. Python Process with Kim Howard Johnson - iO Theater
Howard has just returned from spending most of November on the road with John Cleese (including a stop at the iO), and is anxious to present the his own insights into the Monty Python writing process, and how it can work for you.
