LATEST CAMPS NEWS: Sports Camp week 5- Basketball (ages 5-12) - Orchard Park Recreation
During the first hour of basketball camp, children will focus on the fundamental skills necessary to excel in the sport including dribbling, passing (chest passes, bounce passes, and overhead passes), shooting (jump shots and full shots), and man to man defense. Agility and hand eye coordination will also be emphasized. During the second hour, children will be able to eat a healthy snack and then participate in a series of cooperative games that will enhance their capabilities of being a good teammate and showing good sportsmanship. The third hour of basketball camp will focus on the basic rules such as traveling, double dribble, charging and blocking, as well as the duties of each position. Additionally modified games of basketball and cooperative games such as knock out, PIG, around the world and 21 will be played during the last hour. As the skills of each child advances, the third hour will consist of more realistic game like situations and a mini tournament based upon age group. Equipment will be provided. New This Year! After lunch, families come back together, for swimming, jamming, playing games, and a series of great classes for all. During the week of camp, a community like no other grows, culminating in a demo day when everyone shows each other what we’ve been doing. Every evening, we come together to dance. Do you know or have kids that have in some way been affected by cancer, whether that means they have battled it themselves or have loved ones that have? Would they enjoy spending a day at Georgia Tech with college students? Then bring them on out to Georgia Tech Christian Campus Fellowship for Big Kid on Campus, a Saturday full of fun! We are hosting a day full of fun entertainment and activities including games, crafts, makeovers, kickball with the Georgia Tech Softball team, and even an appearance by Santa! If you are interested in volunteering to make this happen and spend the day with these wonderful kiddos, you are also welcome! We need student volunteers at each and every event and would love to have YOU. So, if you so desire, come to as much as you are able to throughout the day and please RSVP to this event! Thanks! Robotics for Primary School Session 2 - The Prairie School
What does it take to build and program a robot? This workshop allows students to build and program a robot to complete a variety of simple tasks. Students use mathematics, engineering, communication skills, and creative problem solving in a hands-on setting. -- Location: M-15 -- Instructor: Rick Craig, MS Robotics instructor, US Science instructor and US ROV Coordinator (262)752-2680
Grade 5/6 Co-ed Indoor soccer - HMAC at Old Trail School
Old Trail will join the Hudson Uniteds Co-ed Indoor Soccer Recreation league. All games will be played at NC Sports Center in Hudson. All practices will be at Old Trail School: Practices will start in the HMAC on Games will be on Saturdays, 2/27 , 3/5, 3/12, 4/2. 4/9, 4/16, and 4/23. Start times of the games will vary. Practices are on Thursday 2/18 , Mon. 2/22 and Thursdays 3/3, 3/10, 4/7, 4/14, 4/21 No practice week of MS spring trips 3/14-3/18 The fee for this program is $180, and will include all league and registration fees, a uniform jersey, and coaching. Deadline for registration is 2/10/16 (registration closed) In addition to signing up through the Old Trail program website, participants need to fill out two Hudson United registration forms, provided in your confirmation email. Please place Old Trail School in the box that asks for specific instructions. Completed forms need to be returned to Mr. Teunissen van ASAP. Discover native species, investigate the microscopic world of plankton, ride the waves on boogie boards, experience up-close encounters with seals and sea lions, and help restore precious wetlands. This camp is in the morning and will be held 4 days in Holmdel, NJ. Campers will get a lot of touches on the ball while working on becoming a better technical & tactical player. Todays game is becoming more advanced & Christie has built a program that will help your player. Her trainers will include Sky Blue FC coaches & players, national team players, elite club, high school & college coaches. Some concepts Christie and her counselors will teach and incorporate: Reading the game properly, spacial awareness, body language, using your voice, understanding "team", training on your own, build confidence, always believe, being coachable & others. What you do in sports will translate to your everyday life! Campers will receive soccer gear and numerous gifts from Christies sponsors.
