Upcycled Textiles - OCS Arts Center
Denim and buttons and t-shirts, oh my! In this class campers will make all kinds of upcycled creations using discarded fabrics and sewing notions. Whether theyre an experienced sewer or crafter and enjoy working alongside others OR are interested in learning how to do any/all of these things, this is the class for them. Ashland University Mens Soccer Camp - Old Trail School
Coaches from the Mens Soccer program at Ashland University, lead by Head Coach Oliver Slawson, will focus on skill development for young soccer players. Campers will learn soccer skills and techniques through exercises and games specifically designed for young players. Campers are encouraged to learn and develop at their own pace, under the careful guidance of Ashland Mens Soccer Coaching staff and players. Coach Slawson was a 10-year Assistant Coach at The University of Akron and Director of the Akron Soccer Camps, prior to becoming the Head Coach at Ashland University in January 2016. Having developed thousands of campers and youth players in Northeast Ohio, Coach Slawsons Ashland Camp will be a fun and interactive week of soccer, where campers will experience technical development with the emphasis always on fun and learning through individual and small group training activities & games! Period 4 - Woodworking - NBJH Room 116
Incoming 7th and 8th Graders will learn the basic usage and safety of some hand tools, power tools and machinery (routers, drill press, scroll saw, spindle sander, disc sander, palm sander, cordless drill, lathe). All activities will be demonstrated and supervised by Mr. Caris, the current Woodworking teacher at NBJH. Students will choose a project from a list based on their experience. The list will be sent home in the FIRST week of the course. Examples include a cutting board, wood bowl, routed sign, garden tray, gumball machine, and bag toss game. ARTBUG IS AN ENRICHMENT PROGRAM, WHERE CHILDREN ARE ENCOURAGED TO EXPLORE THEIR CREATIVITY, IN A FUN AND CARING ENVIRONMENT. THE CAMP WILL CHALLENGE YOUNG ARTIST TO USE LINES, SHAPES, COLORS, TEXTURES, PATTERNS AND OTHER ART ELEMENTS TO CREATE THEIR OWN MASTERPIECE! WE INSPIRE EACH OF OUR BUDDING ARTISTS THROUGH DIFFERENT ACTIVITIES SUCH AS DRAWING, PAINTING AND SCULPTING AND BY FACILITATING AN ENVIRONMENT WHERE THEY ARE FREE TO DISCOVER AND EXPERIENCE THE JOY OF CREATING SOMETHING OUT OF THEIR IMAGINATION! Campers not required to be potty-trained. Our youngest campers play in their own area where they are closely supervised by experienced Early Childhood Specialists and trained Counselors to maintain a very high staff-to-camper ratio.
