With summer around the corner, many parents find themselves struggling to find fun, educational activities to schedule for their children. Working parents scramble to find childcare providers who offer a safe environment while still delivering their kids some real summer fun. Smoky Mountain Sk8way & FUN ZONE has once again partnered with area teachers and specialists to offer a fun, affordable, healthy and safe summer day camp experience for kids who've finished kindergarten through sixth grade. Skate, Learn, Play is the theme. This year the summer camp has gone the extra mile to become an officially licensed camp by the State of North Carolina which allows them to accept subsidized payments from Southwestern Child Development. Youth Curator Camp Virginia Museum of Natural History Saturday, December 19 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Youth Curator Camp is an opportunity for children ages 6 to 12 to learn about the museum while participating in fun, hands-on activities and programs. Parents and guardians – this is a great opportunity for your children to experience a day of scientific adventure and discovery while you finish up any last-minute holiday shopping! Do you have the right stuff to be a tennis champion? Take a week to really focus on the sport in this fun and challenging week-long camp. Children will be grouped by age and playing ability Using personal instruction, group games and drills, well teach beginning and intermediate level players all the fundamentals: forehand, backhand and overhead strokes, serves and volleys, footwork, scorekeeping, names and meanings of the lines, and more. Add some footwork drills and cardio exercise, and your inner champion is sure to emerge! Please bring a non-perishable lunch and water bottle each day. Games will be on a smaller field to help enhance decisions, speed of play and technical abilities under pressure. By condensing the space players are guaranteed to touch the ball more and learn to become better support players for their teammates.
