LATEST CAMPS NEWS: Technovators: Remote Control Projects and Game Design - Kentlake High School
Get a double helping of technology. First, build remote-control, motor-driven animals and vehicles using LEGO® components. Then, create their own computer game using Stencyl® software, one of the newest and best ways to create games for a computer or mobile device. In the morning, create "Nessie," the Loch-Ness creature, beautifully detailed versions of the the Millennium Falcon and X-Wing Fighter from Star Wars®, a funny-walking spider, and a twin-motor vehicle that you can quickly transform into a turtle! Students learn about motors, gears, hinges, wheels and axles, and more! With their remotes, students race and send their creations on missions. In the afternoon, make a platform style game where characters explore levels, gain prizes and avoid enemies. Students learn level design and how to add events and actions, scoring and displays, physics, and sounds in the gameplay. See your game come to life, while learning skills that can help start your development as a game designer! Take your game home to play on a Windows computer or upload to the web for others to play. 206-466-6882

Children with intellectual and developmental disabilities enjoy summer camps as well as anyone else does. My 10 year old son is intellectually delayed. He looks forward to this camp every summer. In fact, he keeps asking us how many days until camp? He likes to swim, make crafts, sing and learn new skills at summer camp. We are pleased to have a safe place where he can go and we don't have to worry about him. The camp counselors are great at what they do.... Read More...

Programming with Alice - British International School of Charlotte
Alice is a fun, innovative, and educational software from Carnegie Mellon Institute, designed to expose students to object-oriented programming. Using a gallery of 3D characters and scenery, Alice allows students to learn fundamental programming concepts in the context of creating animated stories, movies, simple games, and even virtual pets! In Alice, 3-D objects (e.g., people, animals, and vehicles) populate a virtual world and students animate the objects and program social interactions between characters. In Alices interactive interface, students drag and drop graphic tiles to create a program, where the instructions correspond to standard statements in a production oriented programming language, such as Java, C++, and C#. Alice allows students to immediately see how their animation programs run, enabling them to easily understand the relationship between the programming statements and the behavior of objects in their animation. The end result is animated 3D Models that can be shared with others! 7047743016.0

We will let them think big and expose them to all dimensions of Science, Art and Engineering all in one fun camp. Each day the kids will use the systems engineering process to define, design, prototype and test amazing builds. During the week the kids will build their own candy ( or anything!) dispenser!
