EcoEngineers will investigate and discover how our planets natural power sources and renewable resources are at work right here at Bluff Lake. Daily hands-on activities, crafts, and experiments will guide campers in their exploration of solar, wind, and hydropower. Campers will use the energy from water and wind to sail hand-made boats as well as harness the power of the sun to cook a snack in a solar oven. This camp is for every kid with some energy to play and to build a strong future for themselves and the planet. All campers will learn from science experts, play learning games, make projects, meet new friends, cool off in Sand Creek and have supervised exploration time. Pre-teen Improv Summer Camp (Session 1) - Norfolk, VA
This camp is open to children ages 7 to 12. Students will explore the key elements of both long and short form improvisation. The children will play numerous improv games which will serve to develop and enhance their public-speaking, social, and team-building skills. This camp will be conducted in a non-judgmental environment where the students will build confidence, make friends, and most importantly… have fun. Snacks will be provided on a daily basis and there will be a pizza-party for lunch on Friday. The camp concludes on Saturday with all students performing in a graduation show on the stage of the Push Comedy Theater. Each student will receive a Push Comedy Theater T-shirt and be eligible to perform in the 5th Annual Norfolk Comedy Festival in late September 2016. We will have 3 sessions throughout the summer. Session1: July 11th - 15th, 9:30am to noon Session 2: August 1st - 5th, 9:30 to noon Session 3: August 22nd - 26th, 9:30 to noon These are all beginner level sessions, no experience is necessary. Tution is $200 for new students (includes a t-shirt), $190 for returning students.

Wahoo for the Thanksgiving Teen Event. I love this event! We'll do some outreach on Wednesday (probably giving out hot chocolate or tea at the balloon inflation) and then partner with Gobble Gobble Give to rock out Thanskgiving Morning serving--and then head home to do Thanksgiving with our own families. If you're coming from further away and want to do Thanksgiving here-that's also totally cool. Get excited and save the date!

Held in Computer Lab. Through fun, hands-on and engaging science, engineering, and design technology, students learn how the world works, how buildings stand up, how machines move, and how people design, make and use technology. Projects are different for fall, winter and spring sessions and do not repeat. Using a wide assortment of curriculum materials, including KNEX, Keva Planks, Lego WeDo Robotics, Snap Circuits, and hands-on building projects, students construct machines; program robots, build gadgets, gizmos, structures and vehicles, and assemble electronics such as a radio or flying saucer. Through these integrated STEAM projects, students gain problem-solving skills; develop spatial awareness and a basic understanding of physics, gravity, electricity, energy, design, and robotics. 420 Intermediate Session 1 - 15 Tucks Point Rd., Manchester
The 420 Intermediate class is designed for sailors who have mastered the basics and want to enhance their sailing skills in a double-handed boat. Successful completion of two sessions of the 420 Beginner class, Opti Advanced, Opti Race Team, or a sailor who can demonstrate similar skills is required. There will be both chalkboard (pre and post sailing) and on-the-water instruction with a focus on fun while learning. Students will learn boat handling, sail trim and introductory spinnaker skills. This class has a hands on learn-to-sail focus. When complete, sailors will be able set, fly, and douse a spinnaker, demonstrate skipper/crew communication and teamwork, sail a 420 upwind, downwind, and do so with independence and confidence. This class is best for 12 – 18 year olds who are seeking to become proficient at two-person performance dinghy sailing.
