PTHC Kid's Camp-Volunteers Urgently Needed! - Philadelphia, PA
On June 4th, 5th, and 6th, the Philadelphia Convention Center will be host to the annual Philadelphia Trans-Health Conference, the country's largest gathering of transgendered individuals, families, allies, and caregivers. Part of the festivities is the Kid's Camp, where we endeavor to provide safe, affirming, and awesomely fun activities to the children attending the camp. Due to some unforeseen circumstances, we are low on volunteers on Friday afternoon and evening and all day Saturday. If you are available any portion of the day Friday from noon to 7 p.m. or Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and can supply a valid child abuse clearance (within the last 2 years), please message me. WEEK 8: Ages 4-8: MARINE BIOLOGY AND OCEANOGRAPHY - SciTech Kids
Marine biology is the study of marine organisms in the ocean. Kids will learn what lurks in various bodies of water. First, they will use a probe to study the water in Central Park and collect water sample to identify species in their habitat. Students will visit a marine habitat to enjoy the oceans beauty. They will also build and deploy a ROV (remotely operated vehicle) to study deeper water in New York City to see how exploration is done. This camp challenges students to tell a story with moving images and offers hands-on learning and instruction in writing, directing, editing, cinematography, and production. While producing a group film, each student will experience several aspects of the creative process. Topics covered include storyboarding, camera techniques, sound and music, and scriptwriting.
