Level 5 - Dave Hill - DCT - iO West
Class Shows will be Friday 4/1 and 4/8 at 7PM in The Loft Armed with the ability to execute all of the elements of a Harold, you will now learn how to improvise the structure of your shows, leading to wildly inventive pieces that challenge you to express yourself to the fullest extent of your creativity, and help that creativity evolve. This level includes four performances on one of the iO stages. Passing Criteria: Students must demonstrate an ability to navigate all of the elements of a Harold when those elements are not in a training wheels structure. Students must have demonstrated an ability to make choices within a show to drive it structurally using the various elements at their disposal from Level 5. Attendance at 5 of 7 of your scheduled classes. There is a $10 coaching fee due for class shows. (323) 962-7560

Riverwalkers - Bluff Lake Nature Center
River Walkers will explore the waterfalls, creek beds, and shaded pools of the Sand Creek to investigate how all of life needs and uses water. Campers will discover how the birds, mammals, bugs, and crawfish of Bluff Lake interact with its water sources through hands-on activities, animal encounters, and expert presentations. Campers will have the chance to measure, draw, observe, and play with water as they perform water quality testing, sail boats and build their own dams. Prepare to get wet, meet some aquatic creatures, and have a blast! All campers will learn from science experts, play learning games, make projects, meet new friends, cool off in Sand Creek and have supervised exploration time. During this camp week, we will have daily practice in following a process which should result in several creative writings projects. Each of the students writing projects will be evaluated. A big part of a successful creative writing class is being able to both give and receive constructive criticism; therefore, participation will be encouraged. Phyllis Monroe is a lover of anything related to language arts: words, phrases, clauses, paragraphs, essays, and formal research. Having taught all age groups- elementary, middle, and high school- she knowa that each grade/student will have different writing abilities; however, all age groups should follow basic guidelines for good writing. Creative writing can be the most enjoyable genre because the focus is less on the mechanics of capitalization and punctuation and more on choosing interesting and unique word choices which represent individual writing styles. 9194244028.0
