Vocal at JazzFest Jazz Camp-Commuter - Augustana University
This year, a new vocal component has been added to the camp! Vocalists will learn to sing with an ensemble, combo and develop jazz singing skills. Special lessons will be available such as style, interpretation, vocal technique, introduction to music theory, scat singing and more. Plus, top vocalists will be featured with the jazz combos at JazzFest! Space is limited for vocalists! Vocal applicants will have to audition before final acceptance Audition Criteria: 1. A standard jazz tune (Fly Me to the Moon, Stormy Weather, etc.); please bring a copy of the sheet music for the accompanist 2. Auditionees will be required to perform range and tonal memory tests. 3. Auditions may take place in person on the campus of Augustana University with Dr. Russell Svenningsen, by submitting a private YouTube, or audition via Skype. 4. Nerf Counterstrike - Camp Hickory Hill
Your Commander will lead your squad on training missions where you will learn to move with stealth and approach the enemy without detection. You will use camouflage face paint and clothing to become invisible in the trees. When your training is complete, you will prepare for the ultimate test; taking on your counselors in a full counterstrike operation! There will still be plenty of time for other traditional camp activities including swimming, Catan ball, campfires and Bible Exploration!! Please come out this summer and spend the day with Coach Will Coley and his staff. Coach Coley is the varsity boys coach at St. Davids School. He has played at the collegiate level and also has 10 years experience at the professional level in Europe. This summer we are offering a full day of basketball! Hours now go from 9am to 4pm. Students will be taught and exposed to the fundamentals of basketball starting at the basics and building up to the more advanced skills. There will be numerous games and contests ranging from shooting to 3 on 3 to 5 on 5 games. Students will be broken up into age groups and skill levels. Whether you are the beginning player or the player who plays every day we are sure that we will have something to challenge you. Trophies and certificates will be given at the conclusion of camp. As they enjoy the fun of building, campers will understand the basic working principles of many ingenious devices that are part of our everyday lives. Campers will also learn how to magnify, diminish and redirect force to move objects at different speeds and in different directions. This camp is loads of fun and learning for budding builders.
