Animal Olympics August 8th – August 12th 9am – 4pm (Ages 5 – 11) Monday – Friday READY, SET, GO… your just in time for the summer Olympics! So you think you can kick, bite, jump, and pull? How do stack up against the best? Now its your chance to prove it in this animal vs. kid smack down! How do you size up running against a Komodo Dragon? Can you hold your breath as long as a giant sea turtle? Pull as hard as a giant octopus, or bite as hard as a croc? EcoAdventures will provide the outdoor and indoor Arena you bring the skills. This August, its kids against beasts in a battle on the wild side. This is NO ordinary Olympics here at EcoAdventures. We will challenge you both physically and mentally. Do you have what it takes to lay down in cockroaches, eat bugs, race and alligator? We cant wait to see who wins GOLD, SILVER or BRONZE! Field trip: Easy Rider Horse Ranch Hanover, MD Learn about Equestrian science, riding, training, husbandry, and go on a pony ride or TRAIL ride and groom horses. Junior Adventurers: Outdoor Explorers - Junior Adventurers!
Calling all junior adventurers for another summer of discoveries! In this half-day camp, your sons will enjoy all that The Heights campus has to offer. With beautiful stands of native tree species, numerous bird boxes, and a room full of past discoveries, there will be no lack for exciting new areas of learning. Two days will be dedicated to the animal kingdom – mammals, insects, reptiles and more. Another will focus on seeds and plants. – we cant live without them! Two days will also be devoted to experiments and discovery, bringing their knowledge to life. In the course of daily adventures around campus, campers will climb the trees theyve heard about and capture the insects theyve drawn. With a take-home booklet filled with artistic learning exercises, your son will be drawing on his discoveries from this camp for years to come! Staff: Peter Vitz, 4th grade homeroom teacher, has taught natural history at The Heights for 5 years. Contact: Peter Vitz at The Heights School, Notes: Usual dress is normal summer attire. College Counseling Mini-Camp for non-Derryfield Students - The Derryfield School
For rising seniors who do not attend Derryfield, students will work with Derryfields Director of College Counseling, to get ahead of the college process before school starts. Each morning, students will work on drafting their college essay. In the afternoon students will refine their college list, work on the common application, and practice interviewing skills. Participants will also have the opportunity to hear directly from college admission officers.
