This a recreational & competitive level camp open to boys and girls 6-14 years-old. Players will improve their technical abilities and footwork with the soccer ball through practicing proper mechanics of dribbling, receiving, turning and control. Having technically sound foot skills give players a competitive edge in progressing to tactical application in game-like scenarios. After completion of the Skills & Development camp, we recommend progressing to the Dribbling & Passing camp. Nature Art Quest - Carolina Day School
Be inspired by nature! We will balance our time between creating art outdoors, using natural materials in their natural environment, and collecting objects outdoors to create art with nature indoors. We will study nature artist Andy Goldsworthys work and we will create impermanent art such as earth mandalas, spirals, and fairy homes inspired by his work. Well use the natural items that we collect to create leaf prints, weavings, dreamcatchers, wreaths and more. Leader: Kati Robbins 828-274-0757
EV3 SPACE ROBOTICS, MINECRAFT & STOP MOTION ANIMATION - The Derryfield School
Explore the stars! The Star Wars universe will be our guide as we tackle the challenges and adventures of space exploration. Participants will learn how to build and program their own planetary exploration droid in order to find the Rebels a new planet to put their base. Build and program your droid to navigate unseen areas, collect and test samples, and even film its exploits! Participants will learn how to use sensors to help their droid maneuver through an unknown land, in order to collect and test samples and bring back information to the Rebels. Children will even be able to have their droid record its adventures using a smartphone. In the afternoon campers will learn about circuits and Redstone to build Rebel bases on hostile worlds filled with traps and defenses to protect them from the Empire. Later we will take on the role of the Empire and attack each others bases to test their defenses. Children will learn how to camouflage their base into its surroundings (using hidden doors and other techniques), as well as how to use Redstone to create traps and other defenses against the Empire. Summer Camp @ La Pintoresca Group C (11-12) - City of Pasadena
This is a 6 week camp that will run from June 27-August 5 from 8-6 pm. (Excluding 4th of July) This traditional camp is high-quality, fun and affordable. Activities include arts and crafts, physical fitness games and challenges, dance, visits to the onsite library at La Pintoresca Park and swimming. Campers play basketball, soccer, volleyball and softball. Instruction is also offered in golf and tennis. Campers are escorted to Robinson Park Recreation Centers swimming pool for recreational swim two times per week. Staff go into the water with the campers and certified lifeguards are always present. Fun field trips are often the highlight of the week. Trips are an additional charge and are scheduled for once a week. This camp is a good fit for active campers who like sports and group activities. The ratio of staff to campers is 1 to 10. Campers are grouped by age, and lunch and a snack are provided. Camp culminates in the annual War Games in which Washington Park Camp and La Pintoresca Park Camps compete in a series of challenges to determine an annual camp champion. Willows Transitional Toddler Program provides a gentle opportunity to gain independence and practice preschool rhythms. The morning includes welcome time, story circle and songs. Children will make homemade bread daily, as well as prepare a fresh fruit snack. SC2016: Life Under a Rock Week - Sanibel Flagship Campus
Oh the things that live under rocks! If you only knew what cool creatures are under there, youd never snorkel in more than a foot of water again! Well spend a week turning over rocks to see what teeny-tiny creatures we can find living in the ocean. Marine worms, tiny crabs, tiny crustaceans and nudibranchs and all kinds of algae. Well bring some rocks to our tanks to watch more closely. Well leave no rock unturned. And since were talking about the highly prized wave zone (in wavier places), well crash around in our own splash zone and compete for space to imagine where a limpet or barnacle is supposed to go when all the rocks are full.
