LATEST CAMPS NEWS: Junior Day Camp - Camp Waubanong
Our Junior Camp program is for children ages 7-11 who wish to attend camp, but are not sure whether or not they feel ready to stay overnight. Junior Campers will arrive with day campers on the first Monday morning of the session, and should bring supplies to set up their own bunk (sleeping bag, toothbrush, a few changes of clothes, swim gear, towels), whether or not they will stay the night. Junior Campers will follow the same daily schedule as the Traditional Overnight Camp, with the exception that they will have a block of time following afternoon snack to decide whether or not they would like to stay the night, and time to communicate with their families or guardians about their decision. Families are charged on a per-night basis, so campers are welcome to stay as many or as few nights as they would like. These campers will have a bunk set up in a regular cabin group, so that the transition is seamless for them, should they decide to stay over. Ceramics 6 - Learn to Throw - Artists Exchange
Build your skills with a week of camp devoted to the pottery wheel. Start by throwing the basic cylinder form and turning it into a functional bowl or vase. Add some character to the plates and cups you use every day with interesting surface techniques and glaze. Ceramics camps allow children to immerse themselves in clay studio studies ranging from basic hand building, wheel throwing, and sculpting. Campers will learn a variety of skills designed to fit the camp they are in. Ceramic focus campers will learn the technical aspects of recycling, slab work, build a simple kiln from a metal trash can and firing pottery in it. All under the guidance of a professional potter and the fire department. Clay adventures offers a beginners taste of experimenting with clay.
