The Pennsylvania Youth Recovery Campaign and The Bridgeway School would like to formally announce that legislation is officially being sponsored in both the House of Representative (Rep. John Taylor –[R] Philadelphia) and the Senate (Sen. Pat Browne -[R] Pennsylvania) to promote recovery high schools in Pennsylvania. When enacted, this bill will create an alternate class of school designated Recovery High School. These schools will be suited to address the educational and recovery support needs of high school age/eligible youth dealing with substance use disorders in Pennsylvania. These schools will ensure that students receive the tools necessary to retain long term recovery, achieve academic greatness, and promote family inclusion, support, and overall wellness through education and recovery. This Summer June 22nd-26th we are going to Teen Extreme Youth Camp at Pensacola Christian College in Pensacola, FL. This camp is going to be awesome with exciting preaching from Kenny Baldwin, an indoor water park, paintball, bowling, swimming, ice skating, inline skating, rock climbing, team competitions, music competitions, and much more on the Pensacola Christian College campus. The cost for this camp is $195 per student. (same as last year!) Anyone going into 7th grade fall of 2015 through 2015 graduates can attend. The KMS Cycling Summer Road Camp is a great way to improve your cycling and learn a lot about the sport. Through a combination of training rides, training races, skills work, drills, gym work, demonstrations and discussions, you will become a better cyclist and, more importantly, learn how continue to improve long after the camp ends. This is not intended to be an easy camp with a lot of down time; rather, it is targeted toward 13 to 16 year-olds who are intrinsically motivated to take their road cycling (i.e. Road Race, Criterium, and Time Trial) to the next level. Expect to be on your bike most of the week! There will be bike fitting, guest appearances from local professional racers, a trip to a local training race, instruction on strength and conditioning (and the importance of rest/recovery), discussion of nutrition/hydration basics, long group rides where we work on peloton riding skills, clinics on cornering, sprinting, pedal stroke, bumping, and other skills, clinics on bike maintenance and set-up, lessons on how to prepare for races, training technology, race tactics, discussions on pathways to the Junior National Team and elite levels of cycling, and more.
