Three different programs are offered on campus during the summer. The Avengers Mentoring Organization (501c3) presents it's 3rd Annual Charity Fireworks Fundraiser for our 5th Annual Summer Camp! Our FREE summer camp serves 300 children ages 6-13 in and around the Metro-Detroit area. This daily camp runs from July 11, 2016-August 19, 2016. Locations are: The Golightly Education Center (5536 St. Antoine) and George Crockett Academy (4851 14th St) in Detroit. During the camp, children are involved in team sports such as: volleyball, basketball, kickball, baseball and more, arts and crafts, group mentoring, outdoor recreational play and are also served by a mobile dentist. Meals are provided by Good Samaritan Food and is run by up to 25 volunteers! Field trips are also optional and available! This year's theme is "Celebrate and Laugh," the fireworks is a tradition in Metro-Detroit, get a magnificent view of the fireworks at One Woodward on the 19th floor! Enjoy a barbecue style meal, laughs by Comedians Mic Larry and Simply Shanell and enjoy the sounds of singing sensation and recording artist Johnyce! Each year the WGBC youth and guests spend 3 days in fellowship and under intensive instruction in the Word. The program includes worship services, bonfire fellowship, games, and various activities. This is a unique opportunity to establish new friendships, renew the old, and serve each other. But the most important aspect of this retreat is the time during the services when young people will be united in worship. Another great blessing of this time is the opportunity to interact with our pastors who will be there with us the whole time. This year's theme: The book of Daniel was written to encourage the Jews in exile by revealing God’s program for them. They are reminded that God is sovereign over the affairs of all rulers and nations. A key aspect within the overarching theme of God’s kingly control is Messiah’s coming to rule the world in glory over all men (2:35, 45; 7:13, 14,27). All of the kingdoms of this world will come to an end and will be replaced by the Lord’s kingdom, which will never pass away (2:44; 7:27). Though trials and difficulties will continue for the saints up until the end, those who are faithful will be raised...
