This 68 year old camp is designed for children from 2nd grade to 11th grade. The camp has a strong Jewish heritage which influences the activities they offer. My 12 year old son enjoys the friendly staff and the fun activities. He has grown in confidence while discovering who he is in relation to the community at large. Kids & Teen Yoga Camp - Grand Rapids, MI
Children's Yoga Camp: August 22-26th For children ages 7 & up, tweens & teens welcome! All yoga experience levels welcome! Yoga is very beneficial for children's overall health and development. While the emphasis is upon mobility and agility for the younger ages, gradually the postures are improved and perfected. Join us for a daily quickly-paced playful class of yoga asanas (postures), yoga story time about sages, postures, and ethical precepts of yoga (yama and niyama) that will enrich children's understanding and experience of the background of yoga followed by an art and writing activities that will reinforce learning of the sanskrit (the language of classical yoga, which is taught and practiced in the yoga asana class) and english translations of the classical yoga posture names and elements of the names. The class will close with some restorative yoga postures and a chant in Sanskrit to come full circle. We will also learn and practice poses that are soothing for stomachaches, poses that help with headaches, those which help for sore necks and backs after lots of studying and school work, and much more! Get out of the Heat for One Day to Serve Teen Moms at Younglives Camp
Spa Day is an annual event at YoungLives Camp for Teen Moms and Babies. For many of these girls, this will be the first time they are cared for in this manner, and we need a lot of help to make it happen! Volunteers are needed from 10:30-2:30 & lunch will be provided. No experience necessary. Once you get there, we will assign you to a station, so note your special skills or area you'd like to help: Facial Massage Body scrub kit creating Nails What a great opportuity to get out of the heat, and enjoy the beautiful property of Lost Canyon while serving young moms. In this interdisciplinary class, students will look at and analyze the work of Edgar Degas. Students will experiment with similar postures, movements and phrases in relation to Degas work. This is a great opportunity for students to re-interpret the artwork through movement. No dance experience required. Students should wear comfortable clothing and socks. Students will prepare solo and small group pieces in preparation for our end of program production, where they will perform for a panel of New York agents, mangers and casting directors, as well as family and friends.
