No. Will we write similes about the smell of a campfire, or lengthy descriptions of that one camp counselor who wears knee socks and a fanny pack? Perhaps. Join Kirsten Casey for five days of writing delight: creating poetry, characters, flash fiction pieces, and more. We will write everyday from 1-4 using a variety of prompts, strengthening our attention to detail, sharing our work, and eating candy. Kirsten Casey is a local California Poet in the Schools, who has been teaching creative writing to students in the area for over ten years. She earned her Masters in Creative Writing from San Francisco State, and you can find her work in the anthology Yuba Flows, and her own book of poetry, Ex Vivo: Out of the Living Body. As a teen, Kirsten kept a daily journal, wrote poetry and a play, and enjoyed quoting song lyrics. She loves working with teens because she feels like a teen trapped inside of an adult, and because she never tires...

Fly Fishing - The Evergreen School
Fly fishing is a sport that teaches patience, improves motor skills, and fosters an appreciation for nature. No one can walk away from losing a five minute battle with a stubborn trout without a deep respect for the fish! Students will learn the basics of fly fishing – setting up their rod and reel, knot typing, basic overhead casting, selecting the right fly, etc. Discussion will also include the history of fly fishing, how its different from other kinds of fishing, and entomology. Bear Valley Soccer Camp Summer 2015 - Bear Valley Soccer Camp
The Bear Valley Soccer Camp strives to provide the highest level soccer coaching in a setting that feels like an old fashioned summer camp. With our natural setting high in the Sierra, campers are treated to a beautifully manicured natural grass soccer field, swimming in several local lakes and streams, campfires and more. The soccer is serious. The rest if pure fun. 2016 Bear Valley Soccer Camp once again features coaching from Santa Clara University assist.Coach and Recruiting Coordinator Curtis McAlister. Coach McAlister brings with him a coaching crew of Santa Clara Womens Soccer alumni. Learn the Beautiful Game at 7100 in the Central Sierra ski town of Bear Valley. This co-ed camp is for players 9-16. Both overnight and day camp options available. Besides top level soccer instruction, campers experience High Sierra fun with lake kayaking, guided rock climbing, camp fires and plenty of swimming. Accommodations are at the Bear Valley or Base Camp Lodge, which is given entirely over to our camp for the week, with adult supervised separate gender floors. Meals are at the Bear Valley Lodge across the street. Meals are plentiful and nutritious.
