Tucked on a corner in the Eastern Market neighborhood of DC, CHAW has been Building community through the arts—and creating lifelong arts patrons and participants—for more than 40 years. CHAW provides inspirational and creative programming for its Youth Arts (after-school and summer camp), Early Childhood, and Adult programs; in addition to producing and supporting public art projects, exhibitions, stage productions, performances, gallery talks, and other arts events throughout the year. By encouraging and nurturing students and artists alike, CHAW delivers an authentic arts experience that leads to a stronger, more vibrant community—inside and outside our walls. At CHAW, we are committed to direct action to bridge our communitys income gap: providing a space where adults and children from different racial, socio-economic, and geographic backgrounds can learn and play together. For over 20 years FONZ Nature Camp has matched campers with an appreciation for the great outdoors. My 13 year old son has attended this camp for the last 3 years. He plans to go again next year as well. Music Production Camp July 11-14, 2016 (Monday-Thursday), 9:00am-12:00pm Bernards High School MIDI Laboratory (F-201) Break into the music industry when you come and learn the tools of the trade! Become a music producer by learning the basics of recording and digital music with this introductory course in music technology led by Fred Trumpy (Band and Music Technology teacher at Bernards High School, Bernardsville). Students will be given hands-on experience with the software and hardware that professionals use to create, edit and distribute digital music. Throughout the week, students will create and edit digital music and video, creating projects that will be published on www.MusicSH.org. No musical or computer experience is necessary. Become a coastal crusader as you explore the coastline by kayaking, boogie boarding, stand-up paddle boarding, and identifying snorkel spots through local chart navigation readings. Analyze coastline changes, sift through ways to prevent beach erosion, and discover coastal ecosystems. Take the first exciting step in learning to surf by practicing your stance, balance, paddle technique, duck dives, and get a taste of riding waves. Participants will receive instruction in the basic skills of passing, setting, serving, spiking, blocking, defense, and offense. This camp will help prepare those interested in recreational or middle school or high school volleyball. Enter High School through door #24 and proceed to the gym. In order to register for this activity, you must first click to open the participation waiver and then place your initials in the left box to confirm that you read and agree.
