Weaving creative movement, dance, sensory exploration and play through tales of magic foxes, clever maidens, and dragons. This camp is a full body experience of storytelling and expression! Beginning from "once upon a time" Rachel Ann will lead children through interactive traditional stories that will take them long ago, far away and bring them back happily ever after. Last year, thanks to the generous support of the community of Calumet, all campers who wanted to attend camp were given the gift to go. Summer Camp Week 9 Ages 8-12 - First Free Church
CAMP DETAILS Musical Theater: Featuring Songs from The Sound of Music Join Maria and the Von Trapp children on a musical journey in this fun-filled camp! Campers will rehearse scenes and songs from Sound of Music for an end-of-the-week performance for family and friends. Drama games with friends, singing and dancing, acting out characters...these are a few of our favorite things! You wont want to say "So Long, Farewell" after this week! Children spending the full day with us should bring a sack lunch for our lunch break at the park Reporting Live from Andersonville! In this camp, students will explore the concepts of creating their own news show. From interview skills, anchoring and broadcasting, choosing news topics that interest the campers, and even camera skills, campers will get the entire experience of building a news show. They will work together as an ensemble to build their broadcast while interviewing Andersonville merchants and customers of local businesses to get more of the story! 773-944-9146

This camp for pre-school aged kids introduces the essentials of one to two sports. Through games and activities, campers explore balance, hand/eye coordination, and skill development. Learn a new skill and develop a new hobby this summer! Each camper will have the opportunity to work with a variety of tools and materials and every boy will be provided personal guidance while working on two to three individual projects during this special one-week tutorial session. A variety of wood project ideas and wood species will be offered. Possible projects may include constructing a bookshelf, birdhouse, wooden clock, jigsaw puzzle and carving a bowl or candleholder on a wood lathe. Woodworking experience is not required, only a desire to learn new skills. This specialty camp came into being at the request of campers and parents and has limited enrollment available for instructional purposes. We have envisioned this workshop to have the following goals: 1. To provide a hands-on course that initiates the learning of a new skill during the summer and the development of a lifelong hobby. 2. To learn basic carpentry skills and the proper use of a variety of tools. 3. To encourage pride in ones work and craftsmanship through projects that a boy wants to take home. Teen Adventure Camp starts at 9 a.m. on June 27 at Sequoia Highlands, which is a large camp built around 1970. There is a large kitchen and dining room and a big recreation room with pool tables, pingpong and darts as well as other activities. The accommodations are in long dorms with army cot bunks, one dorm for girls, one for boys. The view of the valley is spectacular, and the charm of this camp is that it is rustic, has lots of room and is close to Kings Canyon National Park. We take trips on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday to lakes, rivers, caves and mountains up in the parks, hiking & swimming & exploring the area. We will also learn about the ecology of the area and how climate change is affecting the Parks and the central valley. While at camp we will tie-dye our camp shirts, create our own videos, fish if the pond is full, and simply hang out and enjoy each others company. Campfires are planned for the evenings after dinner.
