St. Catherine's Koinonia 3 (SCK3) - Panora, IA
Mark your calendars! It's not-quite-but-almost that time of year again! St. Catherine of Siena will be having its third annual Koinonia retreat at the end of February next year (2016). What's Koinonia? It's a Greek word that means 'community'. This student-led retreat helps students grow in their friendship with the community as well as their relationship with God. More details will come soon, but for a general idea of what's going on, here's a bare-bones schedule: -Friday, Feb. 26: we leave St. Kate's and carpool to the St. Thomas More Retreat Center in Panora, IA in the late afternoon and stay for two nights and what turns out to be two days which we spend in prayer and fellowship with one another -Sunday, Feb. 28: we leave Panora in the late morning/early afternoon and return to DSM Applications will be available in the near future. The cost for the retreat is $25 (financial aid is available to those who need it) and more details will come as we get closer to February. And feel free to invite your friends! You don't have to be Catholic to come!

On April 19th @ 6PM we will be hosting a "fun"draiser at the Stray Cat Lounge in Clinton Township. $10 cover charge gets you a buffet style pasta dinner. There will be a 50/50 raffle and a Silent Auction. All monies raised will go to Kids Burn Camp at YMCA Camp Manitoulin. It takes $500 to send one kid to camp but the return on investment is priceless.

The Red Wolf Teen Leaders(RWTL) program cultivates teens who are equally comfortable and competent both in their communities and in the natural world. This is accomplished through community service, an ever deepening knowledge of place, and wilderness survival skills. Teens in this program will develop a solid awareness of their individual gifts and will be well equipped to carry these gifts forward. Participants in RWTL will go on a series of adventures where they learn essential survival skills such as fire by friction, building natural shelters, wild food foraging and much more. To provide a program that is accessible to families and yet offers a deep experience for the teens, were offering this program in 3 separate monthly classes that can be taken individually or as a whole. Butler Opera Center Young Artist Program - University of Texas at Austin
The Butler Opera Center Young Artist Program is designed to provide advanced vocal training for high school juniors & seniors, and college freshmen & sophomore singers. Our goal is to prepare young singers for voice auditions, admission, and successful integration to nationally recognized music programs. This intensive five-week program meets every Monday and Tuesday in June to engage students in a variety of classes, lessons, and performance opportunities. The program culminates with performances. BOCYAP is a one day per week event with the exception of production week. The curriculum will include individual voice instruction and classes related to the art of singing, including diction classes, song and aria interpretation, dance and the science behind vocal production. There will also be courses designed to prepare young singers for the application and audition process of undergraduate music schools and professional young artist programs. These courses range from instruction on how to dress, learning skills that are tested on entrance and diagnostic exams and a mock audition with professional and personal feedback.
