Throwing on the Wheel & Terrific Textures Take your clay projects to the next level! Give your thrown work and clay sculptures a little extra pizzazz with a variety of interesting and exciting textures. This week we will: * Make our own unique animals using texture mats and hard slab construction techniques * Embellish a tile with a variety of stamps and textures to create an interesting landscape * Create a playful sculpture that highlights or exaggerates a texture of your choice. Best Summer Ever
Our son just got back from the YMCA Camp and he can't stop talking about all the fun. We knew he was having a good time based on the photos he sent us but to see his face light up when he is retelling the stories is priceless. I'm sure we'll be hearing about the surf lessons, the horseback riding and the campfires for months to come! DISCOVERY CAMP began in 1989 as an age appropriate summer camp program for both children and teenagers. It has become the largest full-gospel camp in America reaching over 20,000 each summer. Their home and ministry headquarters is Country Camp in Columbus, Texas where gathering churches, loving pastors and networking leaders have earned them international respect. Their children, Andrew, Peter, and Abby are also involved in ministry. Discovery Camp's resides on a a 1,088-acre Christian retreat center and ministry headquarters located in Columbus, Texas. The campus includes housing for 1100 campers, full recreational facilities and summer resident quarters for over 200 staff employees, interns, and ministry families. Three waterslides, go-carts, horses and age appropriate activities will remind your group just how much fun it is to be a Christian. S.P.A.R.K Summer Camp and Memphis Black Arts Alliance pull out all of the stops with the amazing tale of Patriarch Jacob who lived happily with his dozen sons, but whose favoritism for bright Joseph, symbolized by the gift of a spectacular multi-colored coat, makes his brothers so jealous they end up selling him as a slave and staging his death. Joseph rises in the service of wealthy Potifar, whose adulterous wife falsely accuses him, and he is incarcerated. His gift of dream-telling however wins him Pharoah's favor. When his brothers come to beg for food, it's time for reckoning and nobility. Features a 50+ all African-American cast ranging from 7 to 77!!

The camp will consist of numerous events in which you will be evaluated against other campers. This is the first opportunity for you to make an impression on the coaches at Tennessee State University. Comedy: Abbott & Costello reigned as the 1940s "Kings Of Comedy," producing box office hits including "Buck Privates," "Hold That Ghost, and their 1948 monster masterpiece "Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein." Their patter routine "Whos on First?" is one of the best-known comedy routines of all time.
