In On Stage: Spotlight, everyone is a star! Our two week camp is designed to allow students the opportunity to dive into performance and design/construction aspects of theatre by working on an abridged production. This year, students will perform 5-7 musical numbers with corresponding scenework from the Broadway hit, Matilda, based on Roald Dahls beloved book. Well start each day with physical, vocal, imagination & focus building warm-ups. Heres what well be doing: * * creating & developing characters * * rehearsing scenes/songs * * blocking/choreographing musical numbers * * learning music * * set design and scene painting * * designing/building props and costumes * * playing drama games * * getting to know the theatre space and theatre terminology * Our goal is to have every student on stage as much as possible, every student engaged in the creative process, every student proud discovering their design potential, every student proud of their work. Maître darmes Guillaume Béchaux, has been teaching fencing for 20 years and brings a personal attention to each of his students. Guillaume managed numerous school groups and clubs in France and trained the French wheelchair Olympics team for Athens and Bejiing. The program will develop analytic capabilities and dexterity through a combination of pedagogical games, technicals exercises, tactical exploration and an understanding of the importance of time and space. Fencing is the art of quick reflexes, elegant and athletic movements and mental acuity. In Camp Green Science, campers will investigate, discover and explore how the choices we make have a direct impact on the environment we live in and learn simple things we can do to reduce our carbon footprint. Through fun, interactive activities, theyll learn about renewable energy including sun, wind, water and even potatoes! Theyll see the Greenhouse effect up close and learn how cow burps are related to trash and climate change. Campers will learn how to clean our oceans, purify drinking water, and start a compost pile. We believe our Creator wants us to be joyfully creative! The primary goals of this camp are to encourage, nurture, and nourish each childs creative spirit. Daily Activities: In the mornings of each camp day, students will receive training in music and art. In each daily session they will learn something new that will build from the previous day. While in music class, students can explore keyboard, guitar, dance, and voice. Students will learn new concepts in music theory, use rhythm instruments, and participate in creative composition to begin the process of making music. In art class, students will experience textures, work with lighting and shading, and learn level of color. Arts students develop their fine motor skills. Each artist will create renderings that they will take home for years of enjoyment. Dance class is designed to introduce your child to the beginning movements of ballet, jazz and hip hop to inspire their interest in the creative beauty of dance. Sports Camp week 2- Flag Football - Orchard Park Recreation
During the first hour of flag football camp, children will focus on the fundamental skills of football such as passing, punting, kicking and defense. Agility and hand-eye coordination will also be emphasized. During the second hour, children will be able to eat a healthy snack and then participate in a series of cooperative games that will enhance their capabilities of being a good teammate and showing good sportsmanship. The third hour of flag football camp will focus on the basic rules of the game such as flag guarding, off sides , false start and passing interference, as well as the scoring system for football and the duties of each position. Additionally, modified games of flag football will be played during the third hour.
