Our certified staff and Pro Hockey instructors will teach skating stride, edges, puck handling, shooting, passing proficiency and overall hockey competency. Our approach for teaching these skills will be challenging yet fun. We all know that the YMCA has been around for years. But instead of a outdated program, the summer day camp was fun and fresh. Between the swimming, the sports and the crafts our kids were certainly kept busy. Not once did we hear, "I'm bored!" That's a huge change of pace for them. In this camp from Youth Digital, kids learn professional Java programming as they design and build their customized Minecraft server that they can share with friends. At the end of camp, kids walk away with a playable, shareable Minecraft server that they built from scratch. Theyll also be able to access the online version of the course after camp, including video tutorials, interactive quizzes, and new challenges. Kids will learn the basics of one of the most popular coding languages in the world as they modify real Java code to build their Minecraft server. During camp, kids will master introductory computer programming concepts including methods and parameters, if-then statements, and more. Theyll also learn to use a pro-level Java development tool to build their server. For this camp, every student must have a copy of Minecraft for PC or Mac (not Pocket Edition) and bring their login credentials to camp. Offered in partnership with Youth Digital 9194932642.0
Great Outdoors - EcoAdventures
Great Outdoors June 27th-July 1st 9am – 4pm (Ages 5 – 11) Monday – Friday Its back to nature in this camp and we mean literally! If it has to do with nature and the great outdoors we are all over it! These days kids seem to be losing touch with nature, so in this camp we are going to bring them back to the wild side. Kids will leave civilization behind as we head out into the great unknown to learn all about nature and surviving the outdoors. Campers will get the ins and outs of navigating trails, compass use, telling time by the sun, identify animal tracks, interact daily with animals, make fossils, build a drift shelter, survival skills, make Native American crafts, outdoor cooking (more than just smores) and so much more. By the end of camp you might not get your kid to come back into the house! Pint sized survivalist fun is on order for this camp on the Wild Side! EXTREME ART! - Goleta Presbyterian Church
Take art to a new level! Whether you are an accomplished young artist or someone who thinks they cant do any art, we promise you are in for a hands-on 3 dimensional fun experience with wood burning, tie-dyeing with Indigo, printmaking, weaving and felting and that is truly EXTREME! We will teach you to use a special pyrography (wood burning) tool and to draw designs, patterns and texture into wood, leather and dried gourds. The ancient Greeks called it writing with fire. After the design is burned in, shading and coloring can be added. You will discover the art of printmaking, how to use a printing press, carve linoleum blocks into stamps, and create a masterpiece using natural items and a collagraph abstract print. Go back in time as you dye fibers using natural indigo and tie-die your camp t-shirt to the EXTREME! Create Native American inspired medicine pouches through a felting process and weave your own tapestry using card or hand looms from simple to complex.
