Java, Flipped! An Online Programming Course - NuMinds [Online Course]
How Does it Work? Each Friday of the course (see dates below) a new module is sent to students with a self-paced lesson and weekly challenge. Then, on the following Monday, in a "live chat" from 6 - 7 pm, the teacher will answer questions, provide feedback on that weeks challenge, and guide students through the joys of Java programming. Each module will contain multiple labs comprised of problems and a longer app at the end. Each individual lab will introduce a new concept / programming construct. Thats a few hours of available content per week! This hands-on, lab-based approach to learning programming reflects how programmers really learn--by doing, and at their own pace. What Technology Do I Need? Just a computer! The initial welcome packet you receive prior to the course start date will include instructions on how to install an IDE (the software youll use to write your programs) and how to connect to the Monday live interactions. Is There a Prequisite? While no previous programming expertise is required, Java is a relatively challenging programming language. The year 2015 will mark the 48th year that Saint Marys College will be offering outstanding Athletic Summer Camps to children between the ages of 6-18. Saint Marys was one of the first institutions in Northern California to offer residential day camps specializing in athletics. Nestled in the plush Moraga Valley, Saint Marys College is one of the most picturesque campuses on the West Coast. Our summer camps provide a convenient location. Campers will turn their digital snapshots into real photographs, learning how to combine traditional basics of photography, (lighting, composition and style) and blend them into the digital age. Campers will learn how to tear apart a pixel in a digital darkroom and take a photo, even members of their family will like. This camp has plenty of outdoor activity. Campers should bring a digital camera, extra batteries, a USB cord to attach their camera to a computer and a CD or external jump drive to load and save their finished images. The Junior Camp is open to children who will be entering kindergarten and will be 5 by September 1st or entering 1st grade as of September. The Camp program includes recreational activities, organized games, arts and crafts, music, special events, and tennis and swim lessons. A large tent on the lawn will serve as the Camp headquarters. This class will explore all the interesting ways to create with and use paper. Students will be getting their hands dirty making their own paper. They will create their own stencils, bind their own journals, and create Calder inspired mobiles.
