As a certified educator working in the public schools I can attest that Camp Birch Hill is an excellent opportunity for students to increase their social skills, learn how to collaborate, and most importantly, have FUN! The 2nd Annual ATHENA Camp for Teen Girls Athena was the Greek goddess of reason, intelligent activity, arts and literature. She was fierce in battle, but also nurturing and creative. At Athena camp we will use expressive arts to explore what it means to be a girl in today's society. We'll do arts-n-crafts, listen to music, sing, decorate t-shirts, do creative writing, learn stress management strategies, explore and share thoughts about what kind of impact we want to leave in our community, bolster self esteem and reinforce the need to celebrate not compete with each other. In The Handwork Studios Fiber Arts Camp, campers spend their time sharing stories and laughs while stitching snuggly creatures, and crafting handy dandy accessories. Our goal is to teach the fun practical skills of knitting, hand and machine sewing, needle felting and much more in a space where campers will be enveloped in learning, creativity, imagination, and giggles! Swim, Tennis and Soccer Camp - Community Services Department - City of Palo Alto
Please sign up early for our popular tennis, soccer & swim camps held at Palo Altos Rinconada Park and Pool. Participants start each day with a tennis lesson 10-11:30am from the staff of Tennis program. Following tennis, the participates will eat with swim staff to eat from 11:30 am until 12:30 pm in the Rinconada Park. Following lunch the participates will head out to the field to engage in soccer from 12:30-2:30 pm with the Skyhawks coaching staff. After Skyhawks Soccer, the participants will head over to the Rinconada Pool where they will enjoy swimming lessons, water games and be supervised by our lifeguards. Cost includes tennis lessons, soccer lessons, entrance to recreation swim, and supervision. Participants should bring a bag lunch, tennis racket, bathing suit, sunscreen, comfortable shoes and a towel each day. Ages 8-12. Pre and Post Care will be available before and after this camp. INSTRUCTOR: CALLEN ZIMMERMAN Textiles for Teens is a gallery-based program at the Brooklyn location of the Textile Arts Center. This hands-on class explores students personal artistic interests right in the midst of our Artist in Residence studios, and will provide full access to our dye lab, screen printing facilities, sewing machines, looms, & more. Students will be able to draw inspiration from the eight resident artists and designers evolving work in fine arts, fashion design, and home textiles, and gain insight into the endless possibilities within the world of textiles. Check out a one-of-a-kind indoor game that involves the fast pace of real hockey but on a solid surface. During this camp, participants will learn the offensive and defensive fundamentals and mechanics of floor hockey. This camp will include stick handling, passing, shooting and goalie techniques as well as team drills. Participants will also develop endurance, coordination and speed through fast and fun floor hockey games played each day of camp. Each participant should bring a water bottle.
