D&D Summer Band Camp - Tucson, AZ
It's time again for the D&D Summer Camp! This year we have a half day and a full day option. Each student will learn some basics of drum set, guitar, bass guitar, piano, vocals and more/ or further the skills they already have. Campers will get to form small groups and learn songs and perform them on video and on our Rock Star stage in a student battle of the bands. We will have a guest band performance, plus lunch and snacks are provided each day with a pizza party on the final day. The full day starts off with the same great experiences in the morning, but in the afternoon students will get an in-depth look at the ins and outs of a recording studio. Retreat 2016: Endurance - Proclaiming the Everlasting Kingdom - Naches
Each year the WGBC youth and guests spend 3 days in fellowship and under intensive instruction in the Word. The program includes worship services, bonfire fellowship, games, and various activities. This is a unique opportunity to establish new friendships, renew the old, and serve each other. But the most important aspect of this retreat is the time during the services when young people will be united in worship. Another great blessing of this time is the opportunity to interact with our pastors who will be there with us the whole time. This year's theme: The book of Daniel was written to encourage the Jews in exile by revealing God’s program for them. They are reminded that God is sovereign over the affairs of all rulers and nations. A key aspect within the overarching theme of God’s kingly control is Messiah’s coming to rule the world in glory over all men (2:35, 45; 7:13, 14,27). All of the kingdoms of this world will come to an end and will be replaced by the Lord’s kingdom, which will never pass away (2:44; 7:27). Though trials and difficulties will continue for the saints up until the end, those who are faithful will be raised...

No. Will we write similes about the smell of a campfire, or lengthy descriptions of that one camp counselor who wears knee socks and a fanny pack? Perhaps. Join Kirsten Casey for five days of writing delight: creating poetry, characters, flash fiction pieces, and more. We will write everyday from 1-4 using a variety of prompts, strengthening our attention to detail, sharing our work, and eating candy. She earned her Masters in Creative Writing from San Francisco State, and you can find her work in the anthology Yuba Flows, and her own book of poetry, Ex Vivo: Out of the Living Body. Global Video Game Designer #1 - Middle School
Coding is the new literacy - so give your child a leg up by helping him or her become a media maker. This course teaches the building blocks of coding through MITs Scratch Jr. video game design platform. Young children will create all sorts of neat animations (including a dance party and a farm animal race) while learning sequencing skills that make characters move, jump, dance, and talk. With all Level Up Village courses, 30% of the profit goes to sponsor a Global Partner classroom of students in a developing country who will be matched up with kids at Portledge. Together, using the same curriculum and technology, young video game designers from around the world will work collaboratively by exchanging personal video messages and by participating in a digital show & share of their shared creative work. Nearly one billion people on our planet lack access to clean water. Thats one billion people who cant drink from a faucet, shower or cook a meal without risk of illness - or worse! In this course, students will collaborate with a Global Partner Student from a developing country to help quench the thirst of the world. Through video message exchanges they will learn about each other and explore how water is used in each others culture, study the chemical properties of water and the water cycle, and then use the engineering design process to build, test and tweak biodomes, water towers, and water filtration systems to better understand how water systems can be polluted and purified. As their understanding of the subject matter grows, students will work closely with their Global Partners to develop a hands-on research project that shows the water problems each of their countries face while sharing practical ways to address these problems and help bring clean water to the world!
