All meals provided during Thursday overnight experience. Adventure Academy summer camp is open to children ages 7-14. We strive to ensure that each child leaves camp with long-lasting memories of adventure, discovery and friendship. We provide a safe environment in which to have new experiences, gain an appreciation for the outdoors and develop leadership skills and abilities. Our 10:1 camper to counselor ratio ensures a quality experience for each child. Adventure Academy takes place on Camp Mary Ortons 167 wooded acres, bordered by the Olentangy River. In addition to miles of trails, we have a swimming pool, archery range and an experiential education/adventure course. My son started as a 6 year old and now he's going to be a 15 year old Leader in Training. For him, the freedom to be active in a beautiful country environment, play games, and swim was important (and he learned a lot about nature along the way). Creative Drama Session 7 - Williamsburg Middle School
Theme: Rainforest Rangers Silly characters take to the stage! Through improvisation, special guest artist workshops, art projects, theatre games and rehearsals, campers will learn the basics of acting. Along the way they will discover new ways of collaborating with peers and the joy of performing. Past workshops have included stage make-up, choreography, singing, yoga, and swordplay! My Grown Up and Me classes offer age appropriate activities that help infants develop brain capacity, skills and abilities with the use of developmental toys and didactic activities. In addition, there is an emphasis on building gross and fine motor skills. Classes are based on child development expert and author Edith Peisachs Baby Stars Methodology. This proven methodology enables your child to become more alert, lengthens their attention span, and enriches their vocabulary. Students will learn to create human, animal or monster sculptures with papier mache. They will start by creating an armature from wire and newspaper. They will learn the best types of glues and to keep the mess to a minimum and speed drying times. We will use colored and painted papers for the final layer. In the last session, details will be added with a wide range of craft materials. The will learn how to create impressive sculptures that can be adapted for a range of school projects. Ready, rehearse, and act! Join our new Theater Performance Guild to develop your performance skills and put on original productions with an ensemble of like-minded actors. Make new friends while learning the basics of acting, improvisation, playwrighting, and stagecraft, and much, much more! Create your own characters and write your own scenes – the sky is the limit to the worlds we will explore and plays we will produce. A goal of the guild is to build a group of young actors who want to further develop their skills, have fun onstage and offstage, and hone their craft together. All experience levels welcome and encouraged to join, from beginner to advanced. Performances will be ongoing and run on eight-week schedules (subject to change due to any calendar/holiday conflicts). Session ends with a performance on Saturday, March 5th at the Black Box Theatre open to all family and friends. (No materials required aside from your imagination.) *WANT MORE FUN?
