Famous Characters & Scene Study - The Little Theatre of Alexandria
This class is designed for 3rd-5th grade students. The fun continues! For interested students with some acting experience. Well explore changing our voices and bodies to represent different characters from favorite and familiar stories like the Harry Potter series, The Wizard of Oz, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and The Secret Garden...perhaps well travel to Narnia. Students will get to stretch their wings a bit each week doing dramatic readings. Well include some fun theatre games and improv activities too! At the final class parents will be invited to a staged presentation. INSTRUCTOR ROBERTA MASTER-CULLEN has been teaching childrens classes and camps at the Little Theatre for seven years. She is a member of the Screen Actors Guild specializing in radio and television voiceovers, and has been a television news anchor and reporter. Open to all camp participants, summer extended care will provide the same top-notch service and activity as the rest of our programs, while offering additional flexibility for working families. Summer Extended Care times AM: 7:30–8:30 AM PM: 3:00–4:00 PM Both morning and afternoon extended care sessions are available, but no mid-day care is available. For example, a child registered for a half-day morning camp may register for AM extended care (7:30–8:30 AM), but must still be picked up at the completion of the camp half-day at 11:30 AM. In the same way, an afternoon half-day camper may register for PM extended care (3:00–4:00 pm). Extended care sessions must be registered as an entire week, not by single days. Summer Extended Care Cost $40 per week, per block (full day campers who wish to have both extended care blocks will be charged $75 per week) * Any camper not picked up within 15 minutes of their daily camp completion will be sent to extended care, and a $10 fee will be charged. Visual Arts Camp - Session 3 - Takoma Park Community Center
Have fun and express yourself through color, shape, drawing and design! Each session includes a new art related theme and group of art processes and activities. Sharpen your drawing skills, explore new materials and exercise your imagination with inspiring art projects. Two hours of drawing in the morning using graphite, pen and ink, colored pencils, charcoal pencils, pastels, oil pastels or conte crayon, etc. followed by two + hours of painting and/or collage and assemblage in the afternoon. Media such as watercolor painting, sumi-e, mixed media painting, texture and found - object assemblage will be explored. Art related movies, access to the game room during the day and outdoor art adventures are all included in what will certainly be a memorable summer experience. All materials included.
