What to Avoid Packing for Summer Camp?
Summer camp is a great chance for kids to stay active and meet new friends. Thus, children are usually asked to leave values at home, including electronics. Camp life includes a lot of activity and it would be easy for iPods, gaming consoles, and other items to be lost or damaged. Instead of staying plugged in, camp is a wonderful time for kids to detox from such items. Of course, if a child is going to a technology program, a laptop might be acceptable.
To keep everyone safe, fireworks, weapons, and illegal drugs and other items need to stay home....

Paint and Paddle Summer Camp is a creative and physically stimulating unique experience in our natural environment. Campers work with instructors on stand up paddleboard techniques, explore Elbow Creek, and engage in art projects! * July 11-15, 2016 * Ages 8-13 * M-F 9 AM - 3 PM * $180 per camper Cost covers the paddle board equipment, art supplies, and camp shirt. *The staff includes Certified Stand Up Paddleboard instructors, Certified K12 Art Educators, and Volunteers. Our service project will be this Saturday. We'll meet up at church first at 8:30 AM and go from there. The project will last until 12:00 PM. All are welcomed to participate, but remember, you must be there if you anticipate that you'll be requesting a need-based scholarship for Teen Camp 2015. You asked and we responded! Our newest addition…Young Physician II, brings more great projects as young campers delve further into their amazing body systems. Campers will peel back the layers and discover how these complex organs work: learn about disease, how our body fights back, the role of mucus; and digestion, from spit to…. well, you get the idea. They will uncover how the brain works through their own personal webcam, investigate the impact of food, exercise and sleep; and discover how bones and muscles are like cookies and pancakes. They will perform hands-on experiments as they learn about body temperature and fevers, take blood pressures, bandage wounds, and create herbal medicines. Campers will use a microscope, test for germs, map their organs, build a set of teeth, brain and virus models, AND take home their own MD kit. Learn to row this summer! Participants learn proper rowing technique, whole body conditioning and water safety while making new friends and enjoying a new and fun activity. Youth who particpate during the summer get a head start on team rowing if they choose to row during the school year. All camps are two weeks and there is no limit to the number of sessions a participant can sign up for. Eligibility - anyone who has never rowed prior to summer 2016, ages 13-18 and entering 8th - 12th grade in fall 2016. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- LOCR is open to student athletes, ages 13-18 (8th-12th grade), regardless of experience. Practice is daily after school, Monday through Friday, 3:45-6:15p, and Saturday mornings 7:30-10:00a. LOCR offers a Fall racing season, Winter training season, Spring racing season, plus options row during the summer months. Rowers new to the sport are considered Novice and after their first year advance to Varsity. Through a partnership with the local high schools, Varsity athletes have an opportunity to letter just as they would in a sport offered through their school.
