This camp has an emphasis on fundamentals of the game presented in a fun and exciting environment. Instruction is geared towards younger children of all abilities. Campers will be grouped according to age/grade, height, and ability level. Following John Feierabends curriculum of First Steps in Music, we will be singing, acting, dancing and creating music. We are literally creating a full-immersion musical experience that can be the ground work for further musical studies, both vocal and instrumental! We will be using dance to both express music and understand lyrics; we will explore both folk and classical music pieces. Additional experiences include acting with puppets & costumes; expressive dance with hand-dyed silk scarves and ribbon sticks; and beginning instrumental play on drums and pitched instruments (xylophones, glockenspiels, ukuleles where appropriate). School of Rock - Ohlook Performing Arts Center
The brand new musical - which opened this season on Broadway - follows Dewey Finn, a failed, wannabe rock star who decides to earn a few extra bucks by posing as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school and ends up turning his class into a guitar-shredding, bass-slapping, mind-blowing rock band. SCHOOL OF ROCK is produced by Andrew Lloyd Webber, who composed 14 songs to create the score, which also features all of the original songs from the movie.
