Your child will look forward to each days challenge and excitement and build a summer full of special camp memories! This traditional day camp experience will include swim lessons and free swim time, weekly activity themes, camp craft skills, nature study, sports & games, arts and crafts and special events. There is an Open House on Friday, June 24 from 3-5:30pm at Greenwood Childrens Center and Greenwood Park. Join us to meet the staff that will be working with your child this summer and take this opportunity to visit our facility. We recommend first time campers attend to help ease the transition of a new activity. Our experience with Camp Twin Creeks in Marlinton was awesome. When we got there to drop off the kids, we realized that the staff was so diverse in their nationalities that my kids would feel so welcome and fit right in. The staff seemed to be having as good of a time as the kids and my kids walked away with many new friendships. They are already talking about next summer and seeing their friends again. Throughout the week, we will learn about the history of belly dance, do exercises to inspire creativity and self-expression, and of course...dance! Different styles of belly dance will be introduced through hours of drills and practice, forming into a choreography that participants will have the opportunity to perform at the end of the week in a safe and supportive environment (performance optional). Youth will participate in organized games, crafts and field trips while they are at camp. Camp sessions are one week long and includes a camp T-shirt (one per summer), field trip transportation and admission fees. It is required that your child brings sunscreen, a bag lunch, mid-afternoon snack, and plenty of water. There is a potent seed within all of us that receives nourishment when we consciously gather together. The nourishment comes from celebrating the divinity within each pair of eyes that we behold as they reflect our own spirit back to us. This seed eventually matures into the unique way that we embody and radiate beauty during our earth walk. In this transformational week, we will incorporate the sacred elements of nature, mindfulness, and ceremony to provide an opportunity for inner blossoming. We will be accessing the ancient wisdom of our ancestral grandmothers, making plant medicines, dying fabrics, and weaving with natural fibers. We will be accessing the deep and profound stillness that allows us to be fully present and fully ourselves. We will be celebrating life through creating earth art and body paints. All the while, the girls will be inspired by one another in a safe and supportive group setting.
