Capoeira is a Brazilian martial art that combines elements of dance and music. It was created in Brazil mainly by descendants of African slaves with Brazilian native influences. It is known by quick and complex moves, using mainly power, speed, and leverage for leg sweeps. Students work on physical coordination, group awareness, and communication. When the Apostle Paul received his calling from God, he wrote “… for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ” (Philippians 3:8, NKJV). An exchange occurred in his life. He left behind knowledge, position, and commodities to live his life for Christ. Our goal for this year’s youth camp is for young people to understand that in every EXCHANGE, something must be given up in order for something to be gained; and our ultimate goal is to gain Christ.
