Explore innovative ways to incorporate common household materials, found objects, and recyclables into fantastic art! We will focus on the processes as well as the products of creating both two- and three-dimensional pieces of art. Part of everyday will be spent making puppets out of recycled materials and producing a short performance at the end of the week. This promises to be a very busy and creative week! LSA - The Pathway Youth Camp - Withholdin Nothing - Valyermo, CA
The theme for our camp is “Withholding Nothing” where we will focus on encouraging young people to present their lives as a living sacrifice unto God (Romans 12:1). Students will use basic drawing techniques to learn how to tell a story through pictures. While focusing on composition and design, students will explore how to communicate an idea through an illustration. Students will work with stories written by other students as part of the Grannie Annie project. Popular childrens stories will be read as a group. Club members will then be asked to find the important parts of the book to begin creating their very own movie trailer. Concepts such as characters, setting, plot, main idea, and problem will be taught and practiced as we read and as they create their trailer. Kodu & Logo Programming - The Evergreen School
Students will learn how to program their own computer games and simulations, using Microsofts Kodu interactive game development environment and NetLogo, developed at Northwestern University. They will design their own landscapes for their Kodu character to navigate, add apples to collect and score points, and much more in this visual, block-based programming language. Well learn NetLogo by exploring models of ant colonies, traffic simulations, and the theory of wolf-sheep predation.
