LATEST CAMPS NEWS: Butler Opera Center Young Artist Program - University of Texas at Austin
The Butler Opera Center Young Artist Program is designed to provide advanced vocal training for high school juniors & seniors, and college freshmen & sophomore singers. Our goal is to prepare young singers for voice auditions, admission, and successful integration to nationally recognized music programs. This intensive five-week program meets every Monday and Tuesday in June to engage students in a variety of classes, lessons, and performance opportunities. The program culminates with performances. BOCYAP is a one day per week event with the exception of production week. The curriculum will include individual voice instruction and classes related to the art of singing, including diction classes, song and aria interpretation, dance and the science behind vocal production. There will also be courses designed to prepare young singers for the application and audition process of undergraduate music schools and professional young artist programs. These courses range from instruction on how to dress, learning skills that are tested on entrance and diagnostic exams and a mock audition with professional and personal feedback. Teen Week Overnight Camp - Fort Worth, TX
Teen week was so much fun during 2016, we have added it again for 2017. This is a special session only for those 13 and older. Space will be limited and run at a lower number of campers than traditional sessions. This week will focus on activities designed for older campers. At YMCA Camp Carter Overnight Camp, campers live, play and build deep bonds with their peers. Campers must rely on the others in their cabin groups to share daily responsibilities. Teen Week Overnight Camp, runs from Sunday afternoon until Friday evening and includes 15 meals and overnight accommodations in a fully climate controlled cabin with lots of supervision by our well trained staff.

It's a mystery of Shakespearean proportions as this year’s campers create a whodunit from the ground up using Shakespearean characters, plots, intrigue, dialogue, and combat. Each camper will get to choose a Shakespearean character to play, agree on a Shakespearean murder victim, and help write and perform an original play using Shakespearean themes. Campers will learn about the plays, acting, and stage combat in this week-long experience that culminates in a live performance! SETSCO will provide everything except underwear, shoes, and lunch. Tuition is $235 until May 31 when it will increase to $250, so register early! Ages 9-17 Mon-Fri 9:00-4:30 June 13-17 $235

Class lessons include meditation, yoga, fencing, and some elements of Parkour. As students learn these skills to have a chance to be chosen by a Knight, one must also craft their own saber. As such, each apprentice will design and build their own saber that is truly theirs to keep. Small power tools and soldering techniques will be taught so students may craft their own personal saber.
