Summer / Adventure Camp Registration - Solon, OH
The Solon Recreation Department offers two day camps that run in conjunction with one another. The Summer Camp is for pre-kindergarten to fourth graders (child must be at least 5 years old and no older than 12 on their first day of camp). The Adventure Camp is for current fifth & sixth graders (child must be 12 years old or younger on their first day of camp). Camp consists of sports, swimming, activities, field trips and much, much more. The schedules and activities are age appropriately planned. A tentative calendar for 2016 will be available at the Solon Community Center or on-line after February 16. Need more information…Please look on-line at www.solonohio.org. Hello there Dystopians! You are reading this right we are running the game until Monday at 12:00 pm (noon). That's an entire extra day of a DR event over the holiday at the same game price with only a slight increase in meal plan costs! See you there to celebrate with us. Engineering - Build It! - Middle School
This course is being offered in conjunction with the Webb Institute in Glen Cove: a private engineering college that offers a dual major in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. Students work individually or in teams to design and build a boat that serves a specific mission. Each team is given a list of materials and then must collaborate on the design and construction of their boat. Student volunteers from Webb will assist the teams in applying engineering and physics to enhance the design of their projects. The week culminates with a field trip to the Webb Institute, where students get to test their construction skills under various conditions, tour their amazing facility, and visit the Robinson Model Basin to put their designs to the test by completing numerous challenges. Summer Intensive Week 2 2016 - Drew University
For teens who loves to write, The Writers Circles Summer Creative Writing Intensives are the perfect place to hone their craft. Students will develop their voices and writing ideas in a generous, creative environment with professional authors as instructors. Each week theyll choose from two different genres to focus on - fiction, poetry, memoir, sci-fi/fantasy, and more. Theyll focus on their own writing projects as well as new work inspired by creative exercises and prompts. Theyll receive supportive, constructive feedback from instructors and peers. Special excursions, guest speakers from the literary world, and a reading on Fridays for family and friends will round out the week. Middle School "Budding Stars" Tennis Camp - The Prairie School
A limited number of students who love the game and are willing to work will be enrolled in this class. Students must be entering grades 5 through 8 unless approved by an instructor. Half of the class is instruction and drills, and the other half is supervised play. Again this year, we are excited to offer supervised match-play on Friday mornings, included in the weekly class fee! -- All classes are held on the Prairie School tennis courts, and class sizes are limited. The primary instructor for tennis is Nich Schafer. Private lessons are also available. SC2016: I Wish I Were A Dolphin Week - Sundial
Whats not to love about dolphins? Smart, playful, they love their friends and family and theyre phenomenal swimmers and jumpers. They speak to each other underwater and can find things without being able to see them! Dont you wish you were a dolphin? Lets find out more about these ocean superstars. And of course - we have to play in the water A LOT this week. Well find things with our masks blacked out by echolocation and well play Capture the Fish! Well practice picking up objects from the seafloor and well hone our dolphin kick finning technique. Mostly, well have flippering fun this week. (239) 472-8585
