From cooking class to sports and art to education, plan an awesome summer your kids won't forget! Hosted by the GCS Mom's League, a non-profit organization aiming to support moms and their families through friendship, resources, and service. The event is free and open to all families in the community. Guests to GCS Mom's League, please RSVP here. Members can RSVP through our GCSML MeetUp site. Children are welcome to accompany thier parent to the event. As normal with GCSML General Meetings, childcare is available but only offered to members.
Annual Youth Retreat (CAMP) 40th Anniversary Celebrations - Holmes, NY
JESUS AT THE CENTER will be the theme for our gathering where we will celebrate 40 years of a vision that was provided by God to many of our sisters and brothers. We will meet up at camp to celebrate the past, plan for the future as old friends get reacquainted, leaders return to the place where they received or affirmed their call of service, and we give honor and glory to the One who has given us life abundantly. 4th & 5th Grade BEGINNER - Twin City Stage
WINTER SESSION- THE GREEK GODS MUST BE CRAZY Our bodies and voices can do wonderful things, especially if we are a God or a Goddess! CLASS OBJECTIVES & GOALS: Childrens natural acting ability comes to life as they learn basic acting skills, stage direction, group interaction and the importance of individual scene work as well as the power of an ensemble. Through listening, observing, improvisational exercises, vocalizing, and other theatre games, beginners take the stage, which in turn enhances their confidence and self-esteem. Intermediate and more advances students move on to more detailed scene work, acting technique and character development as they hone skills that will serve them well both on and off the stage. Week V PM Play and Exploration - Franciscan Montessori Earth School
This camp, guided by the Montessori method, offers a mix of quiet play, story time, and outdoor activities that follow the rhythm of the child and the particular group. Activities may include play with clay, puzzles, and Legos; trips to the school library; nature walks; and harvesting snacks from the school garden. Children can nap if they need to. One of our most popular camps! This camp is a young persons ticket to the world of Veterinary Medicine. Our lessons will give young vets an opportunity to look into the exciting careers of real veterinarians, and allow them to be involved in related hands-on activities and experiments. Each camper will receive his or her very own medical kit. Sample Topics: Sheep heart dissection, DNA extraction, Clinical procedure, Diseases and Parasites, First Aid, and much more! Our camps are 9am-4pm with pre and post camp options available as well! Please pack a peanut-free snack bag lunch and refreshment for your child. NO CLASS ON FEBRUARY 13. This class is designed for 3rd-5th grade students. Using their natural abilities and imaginations, students will learn how to create their stage characters through theatre games, teamwork, problem solving; and, at the same time develop students confidence. Class includes an introduction to onstage and backstage needs for a show. A final production, April 1-2, will be presented on the main stage. INSTRUCTOR KATHY DILLABER is a JMU graduate, B.A. Communication Arts & Educational Certification, plus graduate studies. Post college, she performed at Tecumseh, Ohio; ‘Land of Oz, N. C.; Busch Gardens, Williamsburg; and local theatres. Since 2013, she participates annually in the Broadway Teachers Workshop, NYC, working with Broadways top artists onstage and backstage. Workshops explored the theatre craft as it pertains to school and community productions. Other experiences include a techie backstage and a theatre instructor where she has directed numerous childrens productions. We tip our hats to the old Aquatics Week that some old timers remember. But retro is not what we are going for. This week all of our campers will have a chance to sail, canoe, kayak, and PADDLEBOARD. Join us as we discover with you the joys yet another self-propelled water sport. Paddleboard the outlet stream, sail a great Adirondack Lake, kayak a great river, and learn from the sport that started it all: canoeing! We will be on the water all week, so be prepared to start right away on Sunday. 518-631-6789
