2016 JJVA Summer Camps - Jacksonville, FL
VOLLEY STARS CAMP | Ages 5-8 years old. Volley Stars Camp focuses on motor skills, movement skills, ball skills and basic volleyball skills for the youngest players. Campers learn with a lighter ball and a camp t-shirt is included. All Volley Stars Camps are for 3 days only. Monday through Wednesday | 3 Day Camp Only | Hours: 9am - 12pm | Camp Price: $95 per session | Weeks 1 thru 10 POSITION CAMP | Ages 13-15 and 16-18 years old. Riverwalkers - Bluff Lake Nature Center
River Walkers will explore the waterfalls, creek beds, and shaded pools of the Sand Creek to investigate how all of life needs and uses water. Campers will discover how the birds, mammals, bugs, and crawfish of Bluff Lake interact with its water sources through hands-on activities, animal encounters, and expert presentations. Campers will have the chance to measure, draw, observe, and play with water as they perform water quality testing, sail boats and build their own dams. Prepare to get wet, meet some aquatic creatures, and have a blast! All campers will learn from science experts, play learning games, make projects, meet new friends, cool off in Sand Creek and have supervised exploration time. Advanced Computer Camp - Pi Edition - Transylvania University
Experienced computer students are given the opportunity to work on advanced projects. This camps theme will involve the Raspberry Pi computers as a low-cost experimenters platform. Morning and afternoon programming sessions will begin with a short lecture, then you will be allowed to address several challenges in response to the topic covered in the lecture. Learn at your own pace, but instructors will be available to help if you have questions or problems. Evening sessions are reserved for independent work and network gaming. During camp, participants will live in a Transylvania residence hall and eat three meals a day in the dining hall, beginning with breakfast on Monday. Campers can also use Transys library, computer laboratory, and recreational facilities. Internet service will not be available in the dorm rooms. Campers must have attended a previous Transylvania computer camp or taken some programming classes at your high school. If you do not have this background, please consider registering for our Introduction to Computer Programming Camp, scheduled for June 12-17. Enrollment is limited to 35 campers.
