Each year the WGBC youth and guests spend 3 days in fellowship and under intensive instruction in the Word. The program includes worship services, bonfire fellowship, games, and various activities. This is a unique opportunity to establish new friendships, renew the old, and serve each other. But the most important aspect of this retreat is the time during the services when young people will be united in worship. Another great blessing of this time is the opportunity to interact with our pastors who will be there with us the whole time. This year's theme: The book of Daniel was written to encourage the Jews in exile by revealing God’s program for them. They are reminded that God is sovereign over the affairs of all rulers and nations. Allendale Camp Group A 1st week Jun 27 - Jul 1 - Allendale Park
This activity may not be registered for individually because it is part of a package.Allendale Park Camp is a traditional, high-quality, fun program. Campers spend at least two hours daily doing physical fitness activities like dance routines, group games, fitness competitions, sports and swimming. Specialized instruction is offered in tennis and golf. Campers are escorted across the street to Blairs pool for recreational swim three times per week. Staff go into the water with campers and certified lifeguards are always present. Field trips are often the highlight of the week. Past excursions include trips to area amusement parks, local movie theaters and arcades. This camp is a good fit for active campers who like socializing, sports and play. Ratio of staff to campers is 1 to 10. Lunch and a snack are included. Campers are grouped by age and are asked to wear sturdy, closed-toe athletic shoes, sunscreen and hats. Sandals for the pool area and swimming suits are required. Camp is based out of Allendale Park and the park, onsite library and the Blair pool. Wednesday, July 20th 9-4pm, $80 (ages 6-11) *limited to 13 due to van space Watkins Mill Nature Camp: We have an exciting day lined up for campers at the Watkins Regional Park in Upper Marlboro. Campers will visit the Watkins Nature Center for an hour interpretive program on birds of prey. Live animals on display include insects, amphibians, reptiles and birds of prey. The nature center also features indoor and outdoor ponds, a songbird feeding area, a butterfly/hummingbird garden, composting area, an outdoor nest box exhibit, and a squirrel gym that showcases the parks squirrel population. Campers will pack a picnic lunch and have time play on the storybook themed playground. After lunch, we will visit the Old Maryland Farm, an agricultural educational farm open to the public. Its agricultural exhibits, livestock, and display gardens provide a farming experience to visitors.
