We are opening up our doors just for the kids this holiday...because your children should have a place they want to go and have fun with their friends! We will have Karma Kids Winter Break Camps at The Studio December 19-23 & December 26-30, 2016 from 8:15am-5:15pm. We will celebrate the upcoming holidays with crafts, games, yoga, mindful activities and more! We will get outside for scavenger hunts, build ginger bread houses and explore yummy foods in our holiday food wars contest! Weekly fee is $155 and we do offer daily drop in for $45 per day.

Adolescents today face the competing demands of doing well in school, being popular, developing close relationships with friends and romantic partners, and appearing sexually attractive to others. Each of these challenges is affected by stereotypes about what is considered desirable or undesirable for each gender. Sexism occurs when these stereotypes constrain the self-image and aspirations of girls and boys. What are the most powerful influences in teen sexism – family, peers, school, music, social media. How are these influences and the stereotypes they promote affecting teen relationships and school success? Do you worry about their effects on your children? Campbell Leaper, Professor and Department Chair of Psychology at UC Santa Cruz, and co-founder of the Gender Development Research Conference, is an expert on gender ideologies, self-concept, sexism, and gender bias in schools. He will talk about the ways that gender stereotypes affect girls’ and boys’ self-image, relationships, and school success. Most importantly, he will discuss what adults can do to mitigate sexism and the negative cultural influences in our kids’ lives. Maker Station-Fine Arts - Amador Elementary School
MAKER STATION Come build with us this summer! Your child will be working with a variety of materials in a STEAM maker station. Students will create their own science or art projects. They will also deconstruct items and study reverse engineering to examine how things work. Our station includes beginning snap circuits, Brackitz bionic blocks, and an introduction to coding when we build mazes for our very own Bee-Bot robot. As an added bonus in the station, we also have GoldieBlox kits to encourage more girls to get excited about building. The Maker Station encourages creativity, exploration, and innovation. We look forward to your child joining the Maker community! (Note - Your child will be handling tools including scissors, screwdrivers, hammers, sewing needles, and other building materials. Science Olympiad Camp (Grades 6-9) Full Day The Science Olympiad Summer Camp is an excellent opportunity for students to experience what it is like to compete in a Science Olympiad Tournament. Students choosing the ½ day option will participate in 2 Science Olympiad events, while those choosing the full day option will participate in 4 events. The camp events are the same as those used in the State and National Science Olympiad Competitions. At the end of the 2 week camp, campers will participate in our camp competition which will be modeled after actual Science Olympiad competitions. Instructors are current members of the High School North Science Olympiad Team and former members of the Community Middle School Science Olympiad Team that has won 13 consecutive State Science Olympiad Championships and 2 National Science Olympiad Championships. Adventure Amputee Camp is very excited to be holding the second annual ski and snowboard winter camp! We will host campers at Wintergreen Resort located in Wintergreen, VA (near Richmond and Charlottesville, Va) with Wintergreen Adapted Sports. Apply now to participate in skiing/snowboarding, tubing, swimming, ice skating and more! Camp will be held January 23-26, 2016.
