Galactic Adventures with LEGO® Bricks - Kentlake High School
The year is 2025. Our rocket ship has landed on a distant planet and our class has been asked to make it a comfortable place to live and explore. Well build homes, rovers, machines and spacecraft - and power them with LEGO® motors. The projects include: •A space home with rotating solar panels above the roof powered by a LEGO® motor •All-terrain rover equipped with a satellite dish to explore the planet and report findings back to base •Research buggy with extras like a drill to analyze rocks and dig for minerals •Spacecraft to travel around the planet This class is great for a LEGO® fanatic as well as someone new to the world of brick construction. Students learn how to incorporate gears into projects, use battery packs and motors to power creations, interlock bricks for strength, make sturdy connections with LEGO Technic® beams and pegs, and more! Students play with and test out their creations through obstacle courses, imaginative play, and various teacher-inspired missions. Students take home a LEGO® mini-build and camp T-shirt. Engineering - Build It! - Middle School
This course is being offered in conjunction with the Webb Institute in Glen Cove: a private engineering college that offers a dual major in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. Students work individually or in teams to design and build a boat that serves a specific mission. Each team is given a list of materials and then must collaborate on the design and construction of their boat. Student volunteers from Webb will assist the teams in applying engineering and physics to enhance the design of their projects. The week culminates with a field trip to the Webb Institute, where students get to test their construction skills under various conditions, tour their amazing facility, and visit the Robinson Model Basin to put their designs to the test by completing numerous challenges. Coon Rapids - Week 9 - FOOTBALL & BASKETBALL Week - Coon Rapids Ice Center
AKA presents Football and Basketball for Week 9 of the AKA All Sports Camp at the Coon Rapids Ice Center. With the NFL, college, and high school mini-camps getting started all around the country, we wanted to the North Metro a youth football camp. Boys and girls are welcomed and encouraged to partake in the football events. Events include drills, obstacle courses, offensive and defensive techniques and plenty of flag football games for everyone. Kids will also get a Basketball Camp, complete with skills, games and competitions. Featured Field Trip : Valley Fair Amusement and Water Park, August 6. FYI - The actual day camp runs from 9am-4pm though kids are welcome to get dropped off as early as 7am and picked up as late as 6pm. There is so much activity between these hours!
